Hi!
My name is John, I'm from Centerville, OH. For those that want to know, it's just south of Dayton, and about 40 miles north of Cincinnati.
I have had rabbits before and am interested in raising some again. My favorite, and previous 2, are New Zealand dwarf bunnies. I also had a cottontail that I rescued for a little while before releasing it. This was all over 25 years ago when I was a kid. Now, I would like to get my kids started in raising rabbits now and possibly get them into 4H when they are old enough. I'm interested in Flemish giants, Dutch and Rex breeds currently.
I'm also looking into getting about a dozen chicks to raise as well for breeding, meat and eggs. But, I'm still doing research on this since we plan on moving or building a new house within the next year or so.
I have a barn I could keep these guys in, but I think it would be a bit drafty for baby bunnies and chicks. Plus, I have to do some pest control to keep a groundhog out that has made it's home under the workshop area. The previous owner has a couple 36"x18" hutches in the barn, but they are old and patched with odd things, like an old tile trowel.
Well, I hope to learn what I have forgotten over the years. Thanks!
