Grunting and biting

Hello, I was wondering why my bunny Ming Ming grunts and bites me. When I pet him he lays down then out of no where he will grunt and bite me so hard leaving a bruise. He only does this to me and my mom because we are the closest to him. He doesn’t bite any other time…just when we pet him or we are doing something else and he wants to be pet. I was wondering if anyone knew anything that could help with this. Thank you! Marley

Ming Ming just turned 2 on the 5th. He is neutered and he is a free roam bunny

If he's bruising you but isn't breaking the skin, then he's not actually biting (which is aggressive). It seems like he may be warning you to stop a particular behavior. It could be that his "bunny language" is being misunderstood or not noticed.

If a rabbit is trying to warn another rabbit or person, the rabbit's body language will show that. If that body language is ignored, then they may grunt (another type of warning). If that is also disregarded, then the lunge would be the next step followed by a nip or even an actual bite.
