We currently have three 3-4 month old(?) rabbits, 2 female and 1 male.
We are new rabbit owners who got the wrong age from the breeder and only had the bunnies for a month. When cleaning out their hutch, we found red fluid surrounding something that looked like a piece of meat (Image attached) and want to know if this could be a miscarriage. If this is, we had no idea our bunnies were pregnant and had no intention of breeding. What can this be, and if it is a miscarriage what should we do now? We're waiting for our vet to return so we can ask. Thank you :(

That's what it likely is. I can't imagine there is anything else it could be. If she is acting completely normal, eating and drinking normally, there wasn't excessive blood, and she is no longer bleeding, I would think that she would be fine. An aborted litter with such a young rabbit, wouldn't be unusual.

If you don't already have your rabbits separated, I would do so immediately. You don't want to risk the does becoming pregnant, and hopefully the other isn't already pregnant. If your rabbits are only going to be pets and you want to be able to keep all three together, you will need to keep them separate until they are old enough to neuter and spay, then have that done, wait at least 4 weeks, then you can attempt to rebond them.

Thank you so much, we have separated them since discovering this and there hasn't been any more bleeding. Both does are acting normally and eating/drinking fine. We aren't sure if the other doe is pregnant, but if she is we are going to take precautions. Once again, thank you for the quick reply.
