Giant Angora

The Giant Angora is a large rabbit, at least 9.5 pounds ideal adult weight. It has very long wooly fur all over its body, a bit shorter on the face, with long hair, fringe and tufts on its ears.

The Giant Angora rabbit is a rare breed - on the Rabbitgeek.com list, based on ARBA registrations, they are no. 2 on the rarest breeds list.

At present, the Giant Angora is recognized by ARBA only in red-eyed white color.

Black is not yet recognized, but is being worked on. This picture is from the 2013 New York State Fair:

Note: Similar breeds are:

  • English Angora - long fur all over, including face and ears, smaller than the Giant ANgora
  • French Angora - long wooly fur on their bodies, but the fur on on their faces and ears is short (although the ears may have tufts on the ends)
  • Satin Angora - soft and shiny wool, finer than the French Angora
  • Jersey Woolly - very small, round head and short ears
