just noticed that Arnold is covered with fleas. What is safe for bunnies? Am seeing vet tomorrow. We have been using Advantage for our cats but have read yjat Revolution is safer for bunnies. Or would diatomaceous earth or insect growth inhibitor be safer? Thank you.

Try Advantage or Revolution.

also use Permethrin or Propoxur only 1% contained products to clean your rabbits room/cage/environment.

Advantage and Revolution are brand name for cat flea treatments but also can be used for rabbits.

in my experience i successfully used Cypermethrin on rabbits without any problem. (taking bath in Cypermethrin contained water)

also i sprayed Cypermethrin on rabbits room/cage/environment to kill all remained fleas/larva.

cypermethrin is a insecticide but has a veterinary use.

not only cypermethrin easly kills fleas, but its effect lasts for a few weeks. its also without and bad odor.

Regular advantage(which I don't think is even sold anymore) or Revolution(selamectin) are the ones considered safe for rabbits. I wouldn't use anything else, even some listed on the medirabbit site as safe, as some like pyrethrins have been known to cause toxicity in some instances.

I would opt for Revolution(selamectin) as it is more effective and I feel, safer. Though the dosing for rabbits is higher than would be for cats/dogs. At least 18mg/kg.
