I have a Holland lop who a few weeks ago started squinting one eye as if there was something in it. We took her to the vet and they flushed it - while also giving some eye drops in event of a possible infection. During this time, she is not as active or spunky - had diarrhea a few times as well. We went back to the vet and they did an entire blood panel and went ahead treating her for exposure to E. Caniculi (sp?) ... a few days later her test results said she had “moderate exposure” to said protozoan. I am continuing to give her the RX, but her eye is still of issue. Was curious if anyone can take a look? She eats and drinks normally. Poop and pee, as well. Definitely not crazy fond of me right now because of all the pestering w/ medicine. :( I so appreciate anyones help!

Our bunny had an eye worm, hardly visible, that our vet removed at her first checkup. Hope your bunny is all better soon.

That does look like it could be e. cuniculi induced uveitis, but it's hard to tell as the photo isn't close up. If it is EC induced uveitis, there is a specific eye drop used for it mentioned in this article. If it's not the eye drops your rabbit is currently getting, then maybe show this article to your vet and ask about trying the eye drop mentioned in it. But in some instances eye drops don't help and eye surgery actually becomes necessary.

I had a rabbit who went blind due to cataracts from e. Cuniculi. She eventually had paralysis and head tilt as well, but our vet actually said that’s not common. If she’s eating well and running around, and you have her on meds for EC, she’ll probably be in good shape. It can take time for eye issues to improve.

thank you all, we suspected EC, as I stated in the first post... she was on panacur, but finished. we have since then noticed the formation in the picture attached. we have sent an email to the vet and have an appointment this evening. she is eating and acting completely normal!

is this normal to develop post the prescription? i do not want her to be miserable. she is only 1.4 lbs and has not been spayed due to her size (she is a little over 6 months old). we will take her to vet and hear what they have to say, but my main questions are: is the formation in her eye indicative of EC progressing too much where she can't be cured / it reversed?

this is my first rabbit and my husband and I are really grappling with the means of how far to take all of it... poor baby bunny. :(
