Back to the vet today. 2 weeks ago he collapsed barely breathing. Today back to his normal eccentric self. The diagnosis is its not his kidneys. Most likely an encapsulated abcess that leaks gunk into his system now and then. Gets sick again its an ultra sound to see if diagnosis is correct and with his health being excellent for a bun his age possable surgery can be considerd.

I'm so sorry! I hope he doesn't get sick again. Did they put him on antibiotics? Where is the abscess?

Well he's gone and done it again. Stopped eating. So its back to baytril as he is a little wheezy a gut stimulant and critical care. Been couple days and his nibbling again. Going to go grey fast at this rate!!!

I'm sorry for you and your poor bunny. The stasis episodes are so stressful :/. My girl's guts are slower now that she's getting older and we had several 'stasis crisis' last year too. Even now, I'm scrutinizing the litter box all the time and weird / small poops are scaring me everytime (unfortunately, they've become kinda chronic).
How old is Eclipse?
I hope he gets better soon...

Eclipse is 10 this year. And apart from these little episodes amazingly well. Vets are super impressed with his general condtion for his age. Yours are how old??

Yeah, it's rare to have a rabbit with an overall good condition at this age. Aki is 8, she's also in pretty good health even if she lost her eyesight a few months ago. The optical nerve just stopped working (she's half albino, with eyes which look purple-ish, and the REW gene apparently causes this pretty frequently - from what I read, a lot of REW have a bad eyesight to begin with). She adapted really well, but it made her even more skittish which doesn't really help with the fact that her guts are less efficient than before. To be honest, she was always pretty high-strung - she was born in a burrow in a garden with no human socialisation before I got her and it shows: she has incredible instincts and she's distrustful as hell of everything and everyone... But well, not seeing doesn't help.

Still, she's eating well and running around and lounging on her carpet so I think I might still have some time with her. I hope she gets to see her 10th birthday too, especially since she lives with a 3 years old rabbit and that they are really well bonded. I'm actually wondering if I'll take another rabbit in when she passes. Rabbits are incredibly stressful to care for. I'm not scrutinizing my dog half as much. I sometimes wonder how simple my life would be with two dogs or a dog and a cat instead of the 2 rabbits and the dog (finding a petsitter who will care for both, a vet competent for the rabbits, riding the train... everything is just sooo complicated).

Have you ever had one of those days when things can throw a curve ball? Our eclipse went to the vet today for the day. He went in because there was still a gastro strasis issue. There an ultra sound was done the cause identified. What no one even the vet was expecting eclipse has male and female charectoristics. They ultra sounded eclipse twice same result. Only charged us for one ultra sound. He had a cyst normally associated with girl bunnies. It has been drained and cleaned . It may reoccur cross fingers eclipse is ok now.

Wow, that's crazy! And you might have never known!
That's great they could find a cause. Not knowing where the problem comes from is the worst.
I hope Eclipse won't have anymore troubles, now...

Sorry not been on for a while. Been taking care of my boy. He has now had blood tests and they were clean. His eating at the moment is his normal. If he stops again he needs skull xrays to see if there is something not visible in a normal consult! Saving hard to make this happen if thats what he needs should he stop eating again.
