One morning my little Thumper was great that afternoon went down hill just that fast. One ear drop head tilted to one side no energy hardly eating took forever to just eat lettuce. Took to vet it was an ear infection. He give ear drops antibiotic by mouth and a shot. Next morning although ear still dropped he is popping round. That was scary. And he went down fast. $173. Later he is getting better.

How is little Thumper now? My bunny (Skyler) has a slight tilt of the head and i've been told by the vets that she has EC (a parasite/ bacteria of the middle ear). I haven't been given drops for her ear(s) though, just a syringe of meds to give her for 28 days & she has had an anti-inflammatory shot. She seemed a lot better this morning, hoping she makes a good recovery, as it's awful seeing her lose her balance and stumble :-( Hope Thumper is ok and back to his usual self.

Thanks for asking. Thumper is so much better. Although His ear is still dropped. He goes back for a recheck Monday. I don't like the vet but he's the only one around that will look at a rabbit. I don't know how he got an ear infection he's got it extremely clean area to live
Hi, that's good to hear that Thumper is much better. It's strange as our rabbit has clean ears, and from what i've read online the ear infection would causing crusting/ mites in the ears which would be visible. My vet has said our girl definitely has EC (the parasite) - its just a case of waiting to see how much damage its done/ going to do until the treatment has kicked in and got it under control. My rabbit, Skyler seems to be a bit happier today, which i'm glad about. Good luck on Monday, keep us posted 
Its been almost a month Thumber has been rechecked by the vet twice an he has dug white crap/infection out of his ear both times. Every day he is still getting antibiotic in his ear and syringe in mouth. The vet said one more check up visit should do it. He's a Dutch rabbit ears are suppose to stand up. His infected ear is STILL dropped. Looks broken. Is it ever going to to stand back up??? Doctor said he don't know. As soon as I seen a issue he went to the vet immediately. I wouldn't think he could have permanent damage I took him right away.

How old is Thumper? All rabbits are born with their ears up. A lop rabbit's ears drop as he matures. It could be that your rabbit inherited the lop gene from an ancestor, and it might not have anything to do with the ear infection.
He is 6 months old. Regular black an white Dutch. Everything I have read an seen his ears are suppose to be up. The one with the infection is the one completely dropped the other is standing straight up. When he showed first sign of infection his ear was down an his head was tilted I took him right away to the vet.

Things like that can happen when a bunnies ear becomes infected. Once the infection completely clears it may go back to normal or stay that way, really depends on the bunny. That can be somewhat distressing to the bunny parent/owner but if your bunny is healthy and not in discomfort or pain, don’t let a dropped ear make you love your bunny less. Ear infections can happen for many reasons. It can start as a sinus infection, a parasite infection or abscess and spread to the ear. A lot of bunnies develop head tilt and require special care. My previous bunny had developed head tilt and he required special care but for other reasons different than your bunny so I have some experience with this type of situation. Colloidal silver was really helpful to my bunny and helped keep the infection at bay with daily use. Monitor your bunny especially after they finish this course of antibiotics. If there isn’t much improvement ask the vet whether or not they suspect a abscess especially if goop is still coming out of your bunny’s ear.
