My rabbit keeps chewing my phone cords. I’m on my 9th one.. and then when he’s out in the living room he chews those cords. Is there any way you guys keep the cords protected?

You do not want to allow your rabbit access to charged(plugged in) electrical cords. Not only does it pose a potential life safety risk to your rabbit as an electrocution hazard, but also to you and others in your home as an electrical hazard and potential fire safety risk. In fact there was an RO member that had a fire start in their house due to their rabbit chewing through the insulation of a plugged in electrical cord.

So yes, there are some things you can do to protect your cords. There is flexible electrical tubing, hard electrical protectors, you can use wire xpen or c&c cube panels to block access. Or keep the cord out of reach of your bun, which is what I would suggest for your phone cords. Because bun isn't going to stop doing this. It's an instinctual behavior for rabbits. Cords are like little sticks to them, and rabbits like to chew on sticks.

One other thing you can do to satisfy your buns chewing needs, is provide rabbit safe branches for your bun to chew on, such as pesticide/herbicide free apple, willow, pear branches.

Thank you, he does have a lot of toys and boxes and sticks and all that stuff but he would rather have the cords. I block the cords off but then he is able to somehow get to them. He’s learned how to move his cage to get to the cords also. Thank you for the URLs

We had to cover all our cords too, the ones we couldn't hide we covered with the plastic tubes you can get at hardware stores.

They come in different sizes and are relatively cheap, so far they haven't been able to get to the cords despite their best efforts haha
