Hi Everyone,

I haven't been on in quite sometime but I am looking for advice. About 6 weeks ago I had a tumor under my eye removed. The vet said there was a 30% chance of it returning, well it came back a few days ago. Mom took me to the vet again and said it did indeed return. They want mom to bring me to LSU veterinary school for possible radiation therapy. Mom is scared, I am scared. We don't know what to do. All I know is Mom does not want me to suffer.

Has anyone gone through this with any of their bunnies? How did you treat it? I will be 9 on Halloween. Some people have suggested CBS oil, others have suggested sending me over the rainbow bridge..."gulp". Mom feels awful. She doesn't know what to do and is very depressed. Please help!!

Love,

Cinder

Having a rabbit go through radiation is pretty rare, so you may not get anyone able to comment about it. I have read others accounts though from doing a google search. The concern I would have is how stressful of an experience it might be for the rabbit, and it's affect on an older bun. I guess it's a matte of weighing the potential good vs the difficulty of the experience for the rabbit.

I did find some info on radiation treatment for thymoma in rabbits, that might provide helpful info.

I'm very sorry for you and your bun, and hope for the best in your time left together.
