Do you want to replace the wire with more wire?Or something different?
I got a wire bottom hutch,and we just got wood,got some of that stick on tile,and stuck it in there. We left a small corner with the wire in it and he learned to poo there.

I use scrap oak flooring. Just cut each piece to size and bang/snap it together.
