I have a 5 year old rabbit who doesn’t eat hay, she only eats hay cubes. It’s not enough though. We took her to the vet today and the vet said it seems like she’s beginning to develop GI stasis. I know this can kill bunnies which is why I want to know if grass is a good substitute for hay. I’ve done everything to try and get her to eat hay but she literally thinks it’s a toy. I recently started growing wheat grass and she actually ate it which was shocking to me since she’s so picky. I know grass has fiber which is why I’m asking if it’s enough.
If so, which grass has the highest amount of fiber?

Grass works well for bunnies to eat instead of hay. My own doe dosen’t eat as much hay, she’s supposed to do. But, it got better when I mixed her pellets with pro-fibre for bunnies.

I’ve never heard of pro-fibre, thanks! I’ll ask my vet about it. Does the bottle tell you how much to feed?

Yeah it told how much to feed on the bottle, always something to try. In my country you can only buy that food from the vet or specific shops.

It’s also quite common where I live that during spring and summer. The bunnies will only eat grass, so for 6 months they will eat grass and have no hay at all.

Couldn’t go with fresh grass option because my doe go through 8 kg hay/month on her own, that was when she ate normal. Can’t get that much fresh grass every month.

Hope you will find something that works for your bunny.
