Broken Nails, Blood Everywhere

I don't know how she did it, but somehow Molly broke two of her nails, right through the quick. I washed her paws, trimmed off the fur in the area, and applied poysporin. Tonight I will clean them again and reapply the polysporin.

Anything else I should be doing? I still have some metacam left over from her spay, but she doesn't seem to be in pain. Should I dose her up anyway? Any other advice?

We keep a supply of styptic powder on hand for nail trimming. Just keep an eye out for any sign of infection. Ours have broken nails and we've had no problems so far other than cleaning up the aforementioned blood.

styptic powder, and if you don't have that, you could try corn starch. Some say to try dipping it in wax, but I've never tryed that one

I have no issues with stopping the bleeding. I'm just concerned about infection.

I've never heard of it causing an infection- at least i've never had a problem with that. I guess you could try rinsing it off, but I personally don't think it should be an issue.
