You're going to have to separate them. The new moms can getterritorial and harm the other's kits or make her nervous.

Can i just add, Ellie's right sorta, most new mums getterritorial and have issues however i have found that does that havebeen raised together or have been bonded for a very long time do quitewell raising litters together however this i have found onlyworks if both does are pregnant and due at the same time (within a fewdays), If only 1 doe is pregnant thats when issues tend to arise as thedoe without kits seems to see the new babies as invaders.

oops forgot to add- your probably bestseperating them if your not confident about it as leaving them togetherdoes carry the risk of losing some or all your kits.

Thanks for adding! ...Have you had experience inhow raising litters together works? I have two sisters that livetogether and were bred together and it would be interesting to get moreinformation on how to go about doing that.

Thanks,

Ellie

My best mate and i hadafewlitters raised together when we were breeding NZ crosses,We found thatmost of thekits were healthier, grewfaster and seemed to be better socialised and less territorial asadults. We found (by lots of backaching spying) that the kits weregetting fed 3 sometimes 4 times a day most days, the does came througha lot healthier at the end (less stress?), as both girls took on theresponsability for both litters, they took it in turns to feed, clean, check ect. and the second time they even built 1 nest and had them alltogether.

However this is all best scenario stuff and unfortunately you never cantell what the girls will do til its done! It's very easy to do, as longas your does are already bonded, you just breed them watch themcarefully during the pregnancy for any signs of agression towards eachother, put in the nest boxes when the times right and hope:Dunfortunately sometimes things do go wrong. By the way wefound this very helpful for 1st time mums matched up with experienceddoes (usually their mums! lol).

They have been together since birth and theirabout a year old.So it has been done before oh and this is their firstlitter too. Were bred the same day.I'm afraid that I seperate them nowand when the babies are weaned I won't be able to put them backtogether in the same hutch.
