Hello!
I have a young broken black Holland Lop doe and I would like to breed her when she is old enough. I have a few questions concerning this.
Should I be worried about any problems occurring during the pregnancy or birth of the new kits?
I heard that a doe’s first litter dies... Why is that? And is it true?
Are there any other tips I should know about before breeding her?
Thank you!

It’s not unusual for the first litter to die, but it also depends on the doe’s maturity and age. First time Mom’s don’t always know what to do, especially if they’re under 6 months at kindling. We usually watch the first timers closer in case they have the kits outside the nestbox or don’t pull any hair to cover them with.

Breeding questions would be best to ask in >> The Rabbitry and Show Room you can ask moderators to move your thread there so it would have better chance to be seen by people with experience in breeding. This is just pet rabbit discussion forum.
