Hello fellow genetic lovers! I think I know the answer to this question ,but I would like to hear y'all's opinions on it also!
If I want opals, can I breed a blue(since it is a dilute) to a castor thus making opals?

That's the right train of thought

Dilute is recessive, so it needs to get it from both parents. In this case the castor parent would have to carry dilute as well for you to get opals. If the castor doesn't carry dilute, you'd likely just get more castors

Another note: if you are breeding to show a lot of rex & mini rex breeders try to avoid breeding castors/opals to blues/blacks. There's some selective breeding that goes into getting the agouti bands right and when you breed agouti to self the bands often get muddied or indistinct. Still, I'm under the opinion of breeding for type first, before color.
