Basil - leaves and stems

Just wondered if anyone knows if buns can eat the stems of the plant as well as the leaves. Mine love basil but I´ve now started buying plants for them and cut them back to grow again and not sure if they can eat the stems.

I feed Sophie the stems as long as they're still pliable and not woody. I read somewhere that the fibrous woody stems can get caught in their teeth but I don't know if that's a fact or not.

Thanks Beverley, I wasn´t sure, just a shame to waste the stems, they do smell so good.
