I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure that’s an umbilical cord like you said. Our new kittens used to have that too. It falls off after a bit.

I agree it looks like an umbilical cord, leave it and it should drop off soon.

My baby rabbit has the exact same thing. It’s been 12 days and it finally fell off.
