I think my bunnies have myxomatosis :(

I have four female rabbits, who all live together, and I think two of them have myxo :( Yesterday morning they were fine, then I picked lots of nettles for them to eat cos they've had them a few times and like them. Then about an hour later I went outside and noticed that two of the rabbits...

    Colours?

I still think this one is Siamese Sable or something, has slightly reddish tinge in his eyes . . . but some people said they didn't look siamese sable so I'm unsure And I dunno what to call this guy, he has agouti ears, but dark grey patches too . . .

Bite wound - antibiotics or no antibiotics?

One of my rabbits got a bite wound on her chin, it must have been from her neighbour bunny so I've moved their runs a little further apart so it can't happen again. Anyway, it looks fine, like it's healing and scabbed over and not infected. But does she need antibiotics as a precaution or...

    Siamese Sable? Or something else?

Sorry, not a great photo, but what do you think? :)

Single maned Lionhead with long fur on body

So I posted before asking if people knew if you can have single maned Teddy Lionheads. But I just took these photos today of one of my rabbits and she has really long fur on her body, but not the same as a teddy and she is single maned. The parents have had teddies before, but had no double...

    Baby Photos

Took some photos of the babies just now, they're not great cos I can never take good photos in the shed with my camera, even though there's quite a lot of light, anyway . . . I'm trying to guess the colours but not sure about most of them! Dad is black and mom is broken sable chin or something...

Doe being protective of her nest

I've never had this before, but I have a doe that's due in a week, and she has built a nest and is getting very protective of it. If I put my hand into her run she's fine, but if I go near her house, she goes into the house and tries to scratch my hand (like when I'm putting her food into her...

Lionheads - can you have single maned Teddies/Woolies?

I was reading the other day that Teddies can be single or double maned, which I guess makes sense, I just never thought of it before. My two rabbits have had a DM teddy in each of their 2 previous litters, and in this current litter there is one single maned baby that looks way fluffier, has...

What is the oldest age a rabbit should be neutered?

For a small-medium sized rabbit, how old do you think is too old to be neutered?

What age do you retire rabbits?

I guess it depends where they're male or female and what breed they are. But what agedo you retire them from breeding?

    Colour question?

Hi, I posted about this rabbit before when she was younger, and some people said she was frosty point and some said broken frosted pearl. I thought I'd post some better pictures now that she's fully grown and see what people think.

Feeding mother rabbits goats milk, good or bad idea?

Someone suggested feeding my doe goats milk to help her produce milk. I have a rabbit book that suggests the same thing (but that book isn't that great) . . . Does this sound ok or could it make her sick?

    Wrinkly kits, is this normal?

This sounds like a weird question, but I'm worried that there's something wrong with my 3 day old kits. Compared to photos of my last 2 litters at 3 days (same parents), they're way more wrinkly, and their fur is shiny and it looks weird. They also seem small but are wriggly and being well fed...

Does anyone have unneutered male rabbits together?

I'm just wondering cos I want to get another male (I breed them so can't get them neutered) and I thought if I got an 8 week old one then I would very carefully try to bond it with my male. My buck Leon is extremely friendly, but I know there's a good chance they'd fight. But I could try. It'd...

    Do rabbits come into oestrus/heat/season?

In college (veterinary nursing) we learn that rabbits have signs of oestrus, but some people say they don't come into heat at all. I know they're induced ovulators, but so are cats and cats come into heat. Of course during their breeding season they keep coming into heat very often if...

    Do rabbits need direct sunlight?

Hi, hope someone can help me with this :) I'm a bit confused about the whole vitamin D thing with rabbits. Do they absolutely need direct sunlight or can they get it from food? Mine are outdoors so get to go out in runs and sunbathe, but for the winter I had them in the shed. They had light...

If you breed a lop and non lop, what are the babies like?

I know that a lot of people here don't agree with cross-breeding, but out of interest, I was thinking about this. I kinda assumed some babies might be lopped, some would have helicopter ears, and some would have upright ears? Is that right? Or does it depend on breed? Or would none have...

What age do you think kits should leave their mother?

I've had two litters so far, the first I sold at 6 weeks, but for the next litter I thought I'd do everything right and sell them at 8 weeks. But by 7 weeks the babies were huge and the mother was sick of them and was chasing them off, so I separated them and sold them at 8 weeks anyway. They...

    Inbreeding

How likely is it that this would cause problems? Or would it be ok if it's only done for one generation? Or does it really depend on the individual rabbits' backgrounds/health?
