Really? I was unaware of that. I mean I figured wild rabbits didn't need it, but thought domesticated did. I let her chew on wood toys and she digs and rips up paper. Should there be anything else I should do to make sure she is healthy?
She could honestly care less about it, she digs in it and then uses it as a potty. She has an alfalfa orchard grass mix. I have also tried getting the kind with the special flowers to entice her and it's not working.
I even cut down on her fresh foods and stopped letting her nibble on the...
I've actually switched to brown paper bags at the store (when I forget my own) so Blossom has something to keep her busy. I also fill it with shredded news paper because she likes to dig in it.
I let my bun roam in the kitchen only, that way there isn't much for her to get in to. I used carrot tops to lure her in at first as I would say "time for bed", now I just say "time for bed" and she goes in. Though I only feed her in her cage so she is pretty good about going back in.
Hmm she's still not large and it's very expensive to get rabbits fixed in our area. I've had other rabbits and they never had this issue. Thanks though I'll bring it up to the vet.
Blossom (unknown breed and about 16 weeks old) has recently moved in (about 4 weeks ago). She's a great and well behaved bunny, but recently she's taken to trying to chew on our pant legs and shoes while we're wearing them. She is out of the cage for about 6-10 hours a day depending and she is...
Thanks everyone, I fed her some yesterday which was mostly kale, celery, a bit of apple and some carrots. She loved it, guess I'll save some for her and give the rest to the chickens.
We recently bought a juicer and there is a waste compartment, we're only juicing organic veggies and nothing that the rabbit can't eat anyways. Would it be okay to feed the waste to the rabbit? It's very dry and not wet hardly at all.
I had captured some wild born domestic house rabbits earlier this year and none of them knew how to use a water bottle. So I put a bit of honey on the ball mechanism and in a few days they were drinking like pros.
We also used the bowls that screw on to the cages as well. We tried clip on...
My Babies liked Bananas, though their favorites are carrot tops, celery leaves, turnip leaves and apple peels. Today we were clearing out the garden and found tons of baby carrot sprouts that the girls just devoured.
You can try making a sturdy outside cage with a dog house full of hay for it to live in. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do since you're the child in the house. I'm sorry your mother and you cannot see eye to eye on the rabbit.
If all else fails rehome the rabbit
My bunnies don't really chew paper, so I shredded paper and stuffed it in a cat carrier. I just change the paper out as needed. My bunnies live in a cage in the chicken coop and when it is warm they move to a cage in the back yard so they can nibble on the grass and enjoy the fresher air.
I have two girls and as long as the weather is good they get to get out all day.
When I had a whole mess of rabbits, the males all got along (same litter) so they hung out all the time together and the females mostly got run of the coop and chicken run.
I made a run out of dog kennel...
