    Maggots in Litter

Thanks guys, very helpful. I was so worried someone was going to come on here and tell me what an awful rabbit owner I am... I certainly feel like one. I'll definitely be cleaning more often, it's obvious that's the main problem. I had no idea they hatched so fast, that would explain a lot...

    Maggots in Litter

Ok... I'm extremely embarassed... and even more worried... I usually clean the cage once a week. I've never had this problem before, but lately, we've been having problems with maggots even in our garbage can... and it didn't sit that long, just a few days. Now it's in my rabbit's litter... I'm...

pee is a normal orangy-yellow colour. re: fleas, what about zodiac? (same idea as advantage) methoprene is the chemical used.

    Fleas? Too much water?

I have a new bunny, her name is Abby. She is separated from my buck, Cinder, by a cage-like wall. So they can see each other, and even groom each other if they so choose. 1) Abby drinks a LOT of water! She goes through a dish (about1 cup) per day, and if I gave her more, she would take it...

Be Honest w Me Re: Night Behavior

"They are all nocturnal, however they also adapted to our schedule and sleep also during the evening. " Rabbits are not nocturnal, they are what's called, "crepuscular". This means that they are neither nocturnal like hamsters, nor are they diurnal like us. They are most active at dawn and at...

    bonding rabbits

I am trying to bond a new doe (Abby) to my existing buck(Cinder) . I am doing the bathtub thing so they can't get a grip to attack each other. But Abby is getting so stressed out by Cinder that she just freezes up completely. When Cinder comes over to sniff her, he starts off that way, then he...

    Making your own rabbit mix

It looks like you are doing your research, and learning lots, which is awesome. But I do have a question, because I am trying to learn a little bit more (or what little people seem to know) about rabbit nutrition. I was under the impression that corn was something that was really bad to have in...

    Bonding rabbits

so a baby bunny wouldn't be too crazy either? I don't have a dwarf, he's like, holland lop size. (I don't actually know what he is though) So how would that work then, if I went with a baby, would Cinder teach him stuff? (like litter train? lol)

    Bonding rabbits

I want to get a second rabbit to keep Cinder company, but I dont know if its better for me to get an adult, or a young bunny for him. Ive heard its best to get him a doe, so thats what Im looking for, but I also was just wondering what kind of things I should do to bond them. Ive heard a car...

    Chewing on carpet

ok, so there are a couple of products on the market that are harmless, but work wonders! There are two that I know about. The one I bought is called "Bitter Yuck!" it's by naturvet, and it works really well. I generally don't give anything to my little boy that I wouldn't consume myself, so I...

What should be in the pellets?

another thing no one mentioned or asked you in here is whether there were seeds/dried fruit in there. If there are, I would avoid it because seeds are fatty and give your bunny the option of avoiding their pellets. Plus dried fruit means concentrated sugars, which is never good! Hope that helps!

    Help! My bunny smells!

unless he's a very large rabbit, (like a flemish giant) he should be getting an 8th of a cup a day. more than 80% of his diet should be hay. (this is as a rabbit savvy vet has recently told me). This should keep his weight reasonable, and hopefully will help with his stool! :)

    Cinder is sneezing

I've had Cinder for almost a year now, and have never heard him sneeze. Lately I've been hearing him do this now and then. It's not constant, it's very occasional. Still, I'm worried!

What should a healthy bunnies' poop look like?

yes, I am not talking about cecotrophs, I am talking about the finished product lol! And fresh too... this is good news, this means my rabbits' poop is actually healthier since his food change, because it was dry and nearly dusty when squeezed, and didn't hold together at all once squeezed!
