    bunny not eating-questions

She is eating normally again and there's a normal amount of poop in her box. Hope this never happens again-it's stressful for everyone.

    bunny not eating-questions

We totally gave up on the syringe feeding. She just didn't want to be caught. She's been eating the carrots and today she ate an apple slice. Tonight I gave our other bunny some grass and decided to give Lola some too, even though I was sure she wouldn't eat it. Surprise-she came to me and took...

    bunny not eating-questions

Thanks for the link. She has eaten a couple more inches of carrot and a few pellets and she pooped some more. Hopefully we're past the worst of it. She has done this before (after the time she went to the vet) but it was only skipping a meal here and there. This time she had not eaten any hay...

    bunny not eating-questions

There are no other vets to find. There are two vets within an hour of me and both will not see rabbits. I live in a rural area. There's nothing at all within 30+ minutes of where I live. Anyway she won't let us catch her now. We finally did last night and she was pretty stressed out. But the...

    bunny not eating-questions

Thanks. I don't have any local stores at all so I'll try to make a trip to town to the pet store and see if they have those. I live out in the sticks. Lola is acting fairly normal otherwise-she is grooming herself and moving around a lot. Just not wanting to eat. She doesn't seem uncomfortable...

    bunny not eating-questions

Our 5 yo mini lop has gone on an eating strike. The last time this happened we took her to the exotic animal vet and by the time they were done with her, it was almost $500. Note that all they did was force feed her and watch her and kept her for 2 days. We cannot afford another bill that big...

Best way to keep your rabbit cool in heat and/or humidity?

It is crazy hot and humid here and will be for at least another week. Wednesday will be the worst so far. I'm very worried about our bunnies. We can't bring them in because there's not enough places for them-they fight so they have to stay separated. We don't have any rooms that aren't carpeted...

    Sick bunny :(

Both buns have decided they hate the fans. They move away from the ice bottles just to get away from the fan so I quit using them. We are still giving fresh water throughout the day and putting out bottles. The problem now is that our freezer can't keep up with the bottles. They won't freeze all...

    Sick bunny :(

ok should I still be worried? She is eating hay at an alarming rate. I filled her hay ball (about a 3" wire ball) at around 6 pm or so. My daughter said she filled it again at around 10 pm (although she is prone to forgetfulness so there is a chance that didn't happen) and at 4 am I went out...

    Sick bunny :(

Sorry if I was misunderstood. She spent from last Friday to Tuesday at the vet and they got her over it but they never figured out what caused it. Now she is eating like there's no tomorrow and she's drinking a lot as well (I can tell by how wet her litter box is getting). So the whole thing now...

    Swimming...

If it's a pool with a "salt water generator", it still has chlorine. The SWG just generates chlorine instead of you having to add it all the time.

    Sick bunny :(

I was able to get ahold of 2 box fans and a long extension cord so I set those up. I hope it helps. I put the fans outside the enclosures since one has a big hole on the front of it. I turned them both on and the bunnies seemed very curious about them and didn't move away from them. Before, I...

    Sick bunny :(

Forgot to mention that I'm in north-central Indiana. It gets pretty warm here but nothing like southern Calif. or other southern areas.

Nancy McClelland wrote: Unfortunately I don't have room for that. It was a huge stretch just getting dh to let me bring her in the house at all and it has to be in a cage in the tub (our bathrooms are carpeted). The cage is pretty big (about 28" long) but the litterbox takes up quite a bit of...

    Sick bunny :(

I'm kind of at an impasse now. Lola is fine, acting normal, etc. I've been bringing her in the house (with A/C) during the hottest part of the day but she will not go potty while she's in here. We tried it with a litter box but she just flipped it over. I tried it without one and she didn't go...

    cage bedding ideas?

thanks. I used shredded paper and she was able to push some aside and lay on the cool plastic. We do have A/C which is normally set to 81 but I lowered it to 79 for a few hours because she seemed hot. She's just incredibly bored. She has a hay ball and water and a jingle bell toy but maybe I...

    cage bedding ideas?

thanks. I had a small litter box in it but she just kept turning it over so I don't think I'll bother. That's why I wanted some kind of litter that will soak up anything if she pees, at least. I don't have any blankets I can use and don't really want to buy any for this.

    cage bedding ideas?

I have our rabbit, who normally stays outside in a run, in the house while it's hot during the hottest part of the day. Only thing is she has to stay in a cage (dh doesn't want any animals in the house so it's a big accomplishment even having her inside). I tried those cage liners but she just...

    Sick bunny :(

Lola is home-we brought her home yesterday. She has been very active and nosy. Today at noon it was getting pretty warm out so I put her in the bathtub in a cage. She looks completely bored out of her mind. She has a small litter box (takes up 1/3 of the cage-should I take it out and just let...

    Sick bunny :(

Nancy McClelland wrote: They both get unlimited Oxbow timothy hay. We give them grass daily (when there is grass) and pellets in addition to their nightly supper of various veggies. Maybe I should remove the pellets? I wonder if she's eating too much of those and neglecting the hay.
