    Riley and Pancake

I am extremely sad that I have to write this, my last post for Pancake. She received her last nose rubs this morning. Pancake's rainbow bridge announcement.

Pancake is no longer with us.

Pancake brought everyone a lot of attitude and affection for the last two and a half years. I can hardly believe that she was almost four. She died today peacefully, if in quite a lot of pain. I don't want to discuss her condition right now. I'm exhausted, and the vet will likely be able to...

    weed-n-feed toxicity

I'm wondering if any weed-n-feed products are safe for rabbits who will be nibbling on the lawn. My understanding is that some of them simply over-fertilize the weeds, so those might be okay for rabbits.

PETA euthanizes 50 of 52 rabbits

PETA doesn't have to go far before they are a criminal organization, if they are not one already. http://special.news.msu.edu/ag_hall/index.php The story covers two fires. The earlier one involves Rodney Coronado, a guy who received money from PETA. I can't find any good sources to back up this...

    Rabbit noises

My Riley makes little noises when he has a stuffy nose. Could it be that?

I suspect pine/urine fumes are causing stuffy noses.

Those are all very good questions! Actually, I have a bag to put over the hay, so I'll do that tonight. The vet says Riley is supposed to have his "Senior Rabbit" exam, which I'll do in the next month or two. If it's a pasteurella infection or whatever, I'm sure they'll catch it.

I suspect pine/urine fumes are causing stuffy noses.

I just found http://www.rabbitsonline.net/view_topic.php?id=12084&forum_id=17. I guess I was mistaken that clay litter is bad. The first link says non-clumping type clay litter is okay.

I suspect pine/urine fumes are causing stuffy noses.

I've had Pancake and Riley for a year and a half now. I've liked the kiln dried pine pellet litter, but for the past few months, Riley's had a stuffy nose. It doesn't get worse or better really. The discharge is grey, but is infrequent. I make sure to change the litter before it becomes...

    Midwest Rabbit Rescue & Re-home Grand Re-Opening

I just want to share this message I got from Rabbit R&R: http://www.rabbitrr.org/

Are there any documentaries about wild rabbits?

I've found some videos or documentaries about pet rabbits, such as Equal Hopportunity (their trailer is hilarious), but I haven't been able to find anything about wild rabbits. I've even seen a documentary about oppossums, which by most standards are not nearly as fun as rabbits.

    Volunteering and then changing

My rabbits got ringworm from me because I didn't change my clothes and wash when I got home from a shelter. It was a mistake that cost somewhere around $500.

A great rabbit care instructional video

Even though I can't understand hardly a word, I wish I'd seen this before I got rabbits. http://www.youtube.com/v/aNK-lq8EHok&hl=en&fs=1 Why is it posted by "violence against the people"? No idea. I guess the video was posted by a really hard core rabbit fan. Part 2...

    I adopted another bun :)

That first pic makes him look like a big grey, fuzzy version of Riley. They're so cuddly! I'm not sure the weight is a big problem with humping since Pancake is half Riley's weight, and he humped her rather vigeriously. On the other hand, Pancake's back muscle is as wide as Riley's, so maybe...

Went out for s'mores, came home with a bunny-RIP

S'more looked so happy. Hearing she died made me tear up. :( At least you gave her a chance! You might want to be extra careful about your other bunnies' health though. I found that my rabbits caught ringworm extremely easily and it's a big reason I'm reluctant to volunteer at the humane society.

    First Bunny Volunteer Experience

Sadly I dislike volunteering at my local humane society because the rabbits are in the same room as the dogs. The dogs are very, very annoying and who knows how stressful the noise and smell is for the rabbits. Amy - you have me curious about Alfred! I wonder if he would become a nice fellow if...

    hypnotizing rabbits?

I find that if my rabbits feel they have some control of their situation they're happier and more cooperative. I hate trancing them - Riley will do it but it's more like panic since he shivers and becomes tense. He looks calm but he's definitely not! Pancake flails about. A burrito sends them...

    Shaving Rabbits?

My Pancake and Riley shed quite a bit. Riley's finishing up his second shed of fur for just this spring. I've considered having Pancake's fur shaved short because it's so thick and it's obvious that she is sometimes uncomfortably warm. Lately her coat's thinned out enough that she seems okay...

I love stories like this! You and your mom are bunny saints.

How much/often do you feed veggies to your bun?

I haven't found an amount of veggies that is too much. Riley and Pancake eat as much grass and weeds as they want almost every day outside for an hour or so. My vet says that rabbits not used to lots of fresh greens shouldn't be given huge amounts suddenly, though.
