    Screaming Giants

I've never had a netherland dwarf that honked. In fact I did not even know any rabbit could honk. LOL. I have a holland lop that sucks in his breath, puffs out his cheeks and then lets it out in a huge puff like the big bad wolf. He never has grown out of that and he is eight years old...

    Screaming Giants

How interesting RexyRex. I have never had that experience either. But then I have two veterinarians- one is a rabbit specialist that came out here from Delaware and the other is a veterinarian and an ARBA rabbit judge. So maybe they hire techs that know how to handle rabbits. Personally, I...

    Screaming Giants

Also I find it interesting that you all have rabbits that DO scream in pain. My experience with my Flemish is to take them to the vet when they are very quiet, sullen and depressed and I will find something wrong. As long as they are hopping, binking, and screaming they are fine. But any...

    Screaming Giants

It's actually very common in Flemish and I am surprised so many people here have never heard of it. The clue as to whether they need a vet or not is when they do it. Like I said one very well known HUGE breeder of Flemish giants has a doe that ONLY screams when she is getting groomed at a...

    Screaming Giants

A few years ago I bought two fawn flemish brothers about three months old. A few days later when I went to feed them they both started shrieking at me. Just a horrible horrible sound. Once you have heard that rabbit scream of fear or rage you never forget. And so loud and piercing. Well, I was...

    One Singleton?

He's gigantic. I didn't weigh him this week. Sure I will today though as I have people coming for the babies. In my last three litters I have found the rabbits to go in this order size wise- sandy, white and fawn. For some reason my whites are just about as big as the sandies, but the...

    One Singleton?

Thank you Bramblerose. I had not thought of dryer lint. A friend of mine told to keep all fur from moults as well and put it through the washing machine in a pantyhose bag with a non scented soap. so I've been collecting fur as well. I like the idea of lint on the bottom as a lining though...

    Help; Sick Kit

I hope mom is okay. Some people at this point would put the whole family on Corid in their drinking water for 14 days. Corid is safe to use for pregnant does, nursing does, and all others. Sometimes with coccidiosis, it can be in the hind gut and never show up in a fecal float. Good luck.

    One Singleton?

There is another side to the story of being an only bunny. Not only is he huge, but he is also incredibly extroverted and pushy. Since I sold Aernoud the other day, my sweet little avatar went to Oregon, Binker has Aernoud's cage instead of having to have his strapped to the wall. He is just...

    Genetics help

I told her that because she has steel on one side and and a sandy in the background on the other, she would probably get gold tipped steels. She still wanted the rabbit so.... Nice fawn, very showeable so maybe she will change her mind later. Thanks.

    Genetics help

I'm out of my league here as I go color to color. But a lady called me up who wants my little fawn doe. My fawn doe is out of a fawn father who is fawn at least six gens back and a white mother who is all white going back five gens to one light gray. Now this lady wants to breed her white...

Hey some people swear the rabbit can be trained to assume the show position. Don't know if that is true or not and not sure some of the judges would not change it anyway but it is worth a try.

    Dex's New Litter

ah no. there are no opals in Flemish. At least there is not supposed to be. Those are sandies with their baby coats. They will darken over the next three months then hopefully moult out into their permanent sandy color. These will probably be a lighter sandy if history repeats itself.;)

    Harlequin Flemish

Nothing is going to happen to the Flemish. this has all happened before when they were crossed to make bigger E Lops in France, and crossed to be foundational for almost ALL the meat breeds. And remember the Flemish Rex? Now an extinct variety? Bred to make bigger better fur coats? The...
