    RIP Ronnie, 6/9/2005 to 11/10/2012

Ronnie passed naturally last night around 9 pm from congestive heart failure. He was diagnosed 2 weeks ago, but the medications (lasix and enalapril) were unable to keep up with his failing heart, despite dosage increase. The vet said he had one of the largest hearts she had ever seen...

Scent glands - do they NEED to be cleaned?

Do they by any chance smell like a skunk? I think Ronnie might need to have his done... :(

Anyone have a FLIP video camera? (Preferably High Definition)? LIke it? Hate it?

I don't have a Flip, but I have a Kodak Zi8 which is similar. It cost $179 when I bought it and has HD up to 1080p. The things I don't like about it (which you may want to research about your Flip) are: There is no manual white balance, and the automatic white balance cannot handle our indoor...

It sounds like a rough year for the hay crop

Thanks for the info. Oddly enough, mine love the brown hay and often won't touch the green strands. We have so much hay go to waste, maybe this 3rd cut will work out for my boys :)

    Never molts?

I was thinking of asking this question as well. I've owned Billy for three years and I've NEVER seen him molt. Like Solara, there are times when I pet Billy and more fur comes off, but he has never looked anything aside from prim and proper. Ronnie, on the other hand, molts a few times a year...

    VA Rabbit Savvy Vets Y

Eastern Exotic Veterinary Center Pender Veterinary Clinic 4001 Legato Road Fairfax, VA 22033 Dr. Kelley McDonald treated Ronnie for head tilt in 2008 and for molar spurs in 2010. We are pleased with the results. Dr. Meredith Davis gave Ronnie his yearly check up and diagnosed the molar spurs...

    Chalk has head tilt :(

Chalk actually looks very good. Her tilt is hardly noticeable in the picture.

    Chalk has head tilt :(

I wanted to add: Look for rolling and mobility improvements. When Ronnie was on Pen G, his rolling episodes were practically non-existent and he ran around very well (albeit in a circular pattern). Every 7th day, Ronnie was taken off Pen G for 3 days, and we could tell a big difference. By the...

    Chalk has head tilt :(

So glad to hear that she is feeling better and eating on her own. mr_mouse_chalk wrote: I'm sure experiences vary quite a bit, based on many factors. With Ronnie, it was incredibly difficult to tell if his head was getting less tilted because it happened so gradually. He's still a bit crooked...

    Bunny Butts

Of the two pictures of Billy and Ronnie: The color/white balance in Ronnie's picture is good. Billy's would need a white balance adjustment to get the yellow out. If you are using Billy's photo and want to try adjusting the colors, the outdoor shot is a good reference of his fur color.

    Chalk has head tilt :(

I remember when Ronnie came down with head tilt and I thought it was a death sentence. I assure you though, it is very treatable. He is still going strong and has been clear from infection for almost two years. As Randy says, I would look into a stronger antibiotic such as Penicillin. Also, be...

POLL: How far are you from the nearest rabbit savvy vet?

I guess we are pretty lucky. The vet that treated Ronnie for head tilt is only 2.7 miles away. They deal exclusively with exotics. This office is a bit pricey for spays and neuters though, so we would travel to another exotics vet (30 miles away) for that.

    Fixed length lenses

kirbyultra wrote: If you are having troubling with lighting in the apartment, I would definitely go with a speedlight instead. Camcorders

We recently bought the Kodak Zi8 pocket camcorder, which has HD video capability up to 1080p. It cost $179 but has recently gone down in price to about $155. This camcorder is alright for the money, as long as you are shooting outdoors or in good lighting. It does shoot very clear pictures in...

how much did you pay for a spay/neuter??

Over $300 for a neuter in Fairfax. We drove out to the Blue Ridge Mountains to get it done for $105. This was over two years ago and I'm not sure what the prices are today.

MikeScone wrote: I do this all of the time with Ronnie. He has a tendency to run into me for pets, humps, or treats, and will also bump his head into the lens. Unlike my point and shoot, it is impossible for me to see what I'm snapping on a DSLR when I'm dealing with a subject like Ronnie. So...

Looking for someone who's been in the same boat - (EC) Randy?

I'm so glad Hershey is doing better! It looks like you found the right combination of meds to nip it in the bud. Using the litter box and drinking water from a bowl are GREAT signs because they require a degree of coordination and balance.
