RIP - Rex Harrison (9.5 years old)

March 13, 1999 - September 15, 2008 :rip: I took this photo just a few weeks ago. It's not quite the last one I ever took of you, but I think it works. It's just...you, Rex. Always on the go. Always doing your own thing. You knew who you were and what you wanted, and you could be both...

(RIP) Rex is very, very sick (CLOSED)

I think he's dying :( I found him this morning when I came home from work (I work third shift). He's laying next to his food dish, still mostly full of last night's pellets. His breathing is somewhat labored, though he doesn't appear to be stressed. His whole body is chilled. In less than...

The Formerly Bald Bunny known as Rex

(previous posts: Bald Shoulders? / Balding Again / Rex Update / Vet Visit) This was Rex before he started balding in January, this was his fur loss at its worst, and this was generally what he looked like for several months afterward. You'll need to see those photos to fully appreciate that...

    My friend's dogs

I got a new camera for graduation, and went to myfriend Laura'shouse yesterday. Shehas two Great Danes and two Greyhounds: Macy (female blue Dane), Bubba (female brindle Dane), Weeko (female brindle Greyhound) and Cheech (male yellow and white Greyhound). I love visiting them to live vicariously...

Today was my last day of college

Took my last final, passed in the rest of my papers, and took what will probably be my last drive home from campus :in tears: And now, I think I deserve a nap

So, Rex had a vet appt yesterday...

To start things off, at our last visit I was given an appointment reminder card, but the appointment itself was never put into the computer. We were just lucky that when we showed up yesterday (for what I thought was a scheduled appointment) they were able to squeeze us in. We waited for almost...

    Happy Sunday!

What's everyone up to today? Our Easter service was just after midnight last night/this morning. It was unbelievably beautiful and joyous:singing::hearts: Today's also my dad's birthday, so we'll be celebrating the end of Lenten fasting with meat :P - marinated BBQ ribs :cooking: :eats: (and...

    an update on Rex

His fur and skin are still the same, bald and flaking. Boosting his diet with Nutri-Cal and sunflower seeds (limited, mind you) have helped him to gain weight, but they haven't done a thing for his fur. He's had two applications of Revolution, and is due for the third next week. Dr. Fulton...

    He's balding again

So, Rex was balding. The vet preemtively treated him for mites (though none were ever detected) and did a fungal culture (which came back clean); that was in late January, and by mid-February all of his fur had grown back, shiny and soft as usual. Now just this past week he's started balding...

    Hey guys

 First off, I just have to say that I am continually amazed at how this place continues to grow like crazy. I know that's because of the amazing work the mods and admins are doing and I cannot express what a wonderful gift this site is for rabbit owners. Seriously :bow I'm not able to...

Bald shoulders? (a question about Mini Rex's and molting)

I know that when Rex molts it tends to be very scruffy and patchy, and that's not unusual for his breed. But he stopped molting over a week ago and his shoulders are still completely bald. No peach fuzz or anything, just bare skin, almost an one-inch square on both sides. I've never seen this...

    RIP, my Mousey Boys

'Martin the Warrior' and 'Chuck E. Cheese' August 2005 - November 2007 They lived very long, happy lives and died just a week apart. You should know that I never intended to have mice. Chuck and Martin were given as birthday gifts to a friend who (surprise!) didn't want them. They became two...

Beeper has joined Peanut at the Bridge

~ * ~ She passed away this evening surrounded by her family. We have lost our oldest and longest companion, and once more our hearts are heavy.

    Our oldest cat has disappeared

Beeper is our first family cat. She's 18 years old and still semi-feral, and the only one of our cats who goes outside. We haven't seen her for over 24 hours:( She rarely strays past our property and we have looked everywhere. She's been in declining health for a couple years now and we have...

    Bunnies at the Topsfield Fair

I love the fair. Not for the rides...(yikes!) But for the bunnies! :biggrin2: Seriously, how adorable is the hairdo on this lil' Lionhead? :hearts: And then there were baaaaabiiiieeeees (where is our *melts into an ooey gooey puddle of mush* smilie? :P) This...

    Dear Peanut

Dear Peanut, It seems appropriate that you died in autumn, when the trees are giving us one last vibrant show before succumbing to the cold dark of winter. After living with head tilt for over a year, shortly before leaving us you faced the world once more right side up. You were such a brave...

Right on the heels of recovery - Rest in Peace Peanut

I think Peanut's teeth are bothering her :? I mentioned it to the vet, but there's really no way to get her seen before tomorrow (and since Rex needs to go with her in the crate, it does make sense to bring them in for check-ups at the same time) I notice that for the past couple days she's...
