    Goodbye to our little Charlene.

My heart breaks for you -- They really can steal our hearts, can't they? "A creature never really dies as long as someone remembers them." Charlene, your precious baby, still lives in your heart and memories. bob

    Rabbit lump/tumor/possibly cancer

*sigh* Unfortunately all the advice given here in regards to Bun has fallen on deaf ears. Mollie, Why you posted here, I have no idea, since you don't care to listen to excellent advice. First: A few pages back I gave a link to youtube posts of tripod bunnies. They DO have a quality of life...

    Rabbit lump/tumor/possibly cancer

I believe I stated what it cost to have the tumor removed from Pegasus and to have it biopsied: $273 US Dollars, total. (Vet in Raleigh NC) From your description I strongly suspect that Pegaus's tumor and Bun's tumor are identical. Personally I'd find another vet who isn't looking to you for...

    Rabbit lump/tumor/possibly cancer

This is really frustrating. You say this has been going on for two months. Meanwhile the growth is getting bigger. It is also more likely that it is spreading, getting into the lymph nodes which are in the armpit region. Once that happens Bun is doomed. The cancer wll spread and removing the...

    Rabbit lump/tumor/possibly cancer

Curses on the absurd 5 minute limit on editing !! Add to my last post: As I suspect lovelops implied in her post, Cat scans, xrays, etc. are not likely to give definitive answers. They are more likely to simply waste precious time. Surgery and biopsy is the only real way to know what you...

    Rabbit lump/tumor/possibly cancer

mollie07 -- What you are describing sounds like what my Pegasus had. He was a mini-lop about 6 1/2 years old. The mass was removed in September 2012 and a biopsy done. The biopsy described it as a "poorly differentiated sarcoma." I eventually learned that term meant it was likely to grow...

Pegasus, Dearly Loved and Horribly Missed

Thumper does have a new friend but the bond between them is not like she had with Pegasus. He was about two years younger than her and she was always by his side grooming and loving on him. Her new friend Nigel, is a Jersey Wooly buck and is just over a year old. My sadness for losing Pegasus...

    Rabbit lump/tumor/possibly cancer

@ lovelops --- mollie07 is the original poster. She has a rabbit with a growth. She seems to be from Bucks County PA which is Northwest of Philadelphia PA. I live near Raleigh NC. My fur-baby Pegasus died about a year ago from a similar fibroid sarcoma. My Pegasus was about seven. Last...

    Rabbit lump/tumor/possibly cancer

Why there is a 5 minute limit on editing is an enigma. It simply forces people to ignore mistakes or make several posts like this one to correct mistakes. in my second post above I wrote cat -- it should have been cart.

also: Seven is not too old. I know of one rabbit that was 8 when amputated and he lived to 15.

    Rabbit lump/tumor/possibly cancer

My Pegasus died one year ago due to a cancerous tumor on one of his fore-legs. He was first diagnosed in September 2012 and the mass was removed. A VERY serious mistake was made by the vet: She removed the growth but failed to schedule follow up visits. I mssed up by not keeping a close enough...

Pegasus, Dearly Loved and Horribly Missed

And in your stroller with your girlfriend, Thumper. We strolled all over town. People loved both You and Thumper. You'd ride with your paws up, looking like a hood or ornament. Thumper, 10 now, is still here and still misses you.

Pegasus, Dearly Loved and Horribly Missed

It was one year ago today that I had to kiss you goodbye. I cannot tell you how many times I have cried thinking of you. I promise that I will never forget you, my precious furbaby. I sleep with your ashes in an urn at the head of my bed. I often cuddle and sleep with the urn, as I will...

    Considering a Long Haired Bunny

Sorry I was answering from my phone and didn't see the pic. That's a medium length hair, not likely to need a dematter. Likely a comb and slicker brush would be enough.

    Considering a Long Haired Bunny

A furminator doesn't get deep enough into the fur which is needed. A dematter is more like a comb made up of a few curved, sickle like knives. The one I use has 6 blades. It actually cuts through the mats. They are hard to find locally so I got mine online. To use you comb until it snags then...

    Considering a Long Haired Bunny

Nigel is my purebred Jersey Wooly. His fur is long all over but shorter around his face. He really doesn't need much combing except when he is shedding. Then it sometimes gets out of control. The solution is a dematter. Google it to find one. It needs to be used with care because a rabbit's...

Admit it, you once had a rabbit named...

I have one named Thumper. She's a beautiful black Mini Rex with a Vienna mark. (White nose and blue eyes) I got her when she was three. I kept the name. She'll be 10 in March and she's very healthy. She has a wonderful personality, is very loving and I love her dearly.
