Female Rabbit - blood in urine

I was wondering how everything turned out for you and your bun? My bunny is experiencing some bleeding with clots. Took her to the vet who said she had a UTI...a bad one (there were casts cells present in her urine). My female is the exact same age as yours was at the time of post. She was...

    Female Rabbit injured

I would clean the area and put triple antibiotic ointment on it. I have done this with my fluffy baby who is unable to get to her bottom to clean it well. I have since shaved her bottom area to avoid future clumps of dump. I have also soaked her bottom to remove the clumps since cutting her...

Super fluffy lionhead or a mix?

I have a lionhead who is just as fluffy...she has a gorgeous coat and you can find her lying on or near an air vent to keep cool. I've attached a pic. She is a double moaned, blue eyed, and I have to keep her bottom shaved, or else it gets very messy. She has a hard time eating her cecotropes...

taking care of rabbits while dealing with mental health

"Does anyone PLEASE anyone have any tips to help me? I don't know how anyone could..." First of all, you should be proud of yourself for reaching out. There are many who suffer in silence! I too have severe depression much like you describe. Last year, I got my bunny on March 19th. She was...

    Rabbit treats I made

Great idea...especially for bananas...one banana is too much for a rabbit at one time, so I wind up wasting a lot of bananas. Thanks for sharing. 😀

    good treat for rabbit

JBun, I am new to rabbitry and want to make sure I'm doing it right. I buy wrapped hay bales (for horses) from Tractor Supply of alfalfa for my kits and nursing does and Timothy for all others. When I open the bales, I shake out the dust and small bits and store the remaining in a plastic bin...

    Astrex Rabbit?

Thanks JBun! I talked to the breeder about it and she pretty much said the same thing. She said some of her kits had wavy hair, but they "grew out of it." They are adorable, so I don't mind it at all! Their hair reminds me of a Cocker Spaniel puppy...so soft and wavy! Here is a picture of...

One-eyed rescue bunny…big breed or obese?

I'm no expert, but it looks to me like you have a mix of Rex, lionhead, and maybe mini lops. Rex rabbits grow to about 7-8 lbs, lionheads average around 3 lbs, and mini lops around 6.5 lbs. (Holland lops grow to around 5 lbs). The lionhead mane gene is apparent, although it doesn't appear to...

    Astrex Rabbit?

Hi everyone...a few weeks ago we welcomed a litter of 5 lionhead rabbits. It appears one of the kits has wavy fur. Is this an astrex or do some lionheads have fur like this? He's also the runt of the litter ( almost half the size of the others), but he is strong and very healthy. If he does...

    Bunny Kisses?

That's very encouraging to hear. My doe is very spunky, but sweet. The only time she has been aggressive was during her teenager life 😳. I was wondering what I had gotten myself into!

    Bunny Kisses?

Lol...yeah. her beau was quite kissy kissy with her when they bred. I definitely feel it's a positive thing 😌..maybe her approval of me helping her care for the kits?

    Bunny Kisses?

My lionhead just gave birth a few days ago. She is a VERY attentive mama and doing a great job, especially with this being her first litter. I "check" on the babies first thing each morning to make sure all have been fed and are in the nest box. When I do my checks, mama licks me on the leg...

    Please Help! Birthing Questions

Thank you all for your advice. Mama seems to be doing well and is a very attentive mama. There was a tiny bit of spotting today, but her stools appear to be normal. She is taking very good care of the kits...all are apparently being feed, because they have fat little tummies and the nest is...

    Please Help! Birthing Questions

My bunny (lionhead) just gave birth to 6 babies, 1 stillborn and 5 living and seemingly in good health. I don't know what to expect right now. She seems to have bloody discharge (she gave birth at 3pm EST) and maybe some very wet stool pellets that appear to have blood on them...just not sure...

    Diarrhea after giving birth?

Merino, my lionhead just gave birth and I've noticed some really wet droppings with a bit of an odor. Did you ever find out if this is normal after giving birth? She just had her babies about 5 hours ago. Thanks, Tammy

    Pregnant Doe Early Nesting

I'm so excited...today is day 29 and we could have little ones any day now! My bunny is still perfecting her nest and is doing a fantastic job. She let me touch her tummy and I could feel the babies move!!!! I do have a question...how often should I do nest checks at night? Thanks, Tammy

    Pregnant Doe Early Nesting

No worries! My brain has completely shut down since I got covid in January. I am so ready for it to return to normal if there is such a thing! 😀

    Pregnant Doe Early Nesting

I only saw movement in my bunnies belly at day 24...no birth...we should have babies in a few days! This is her first litter (and mine), so hoping and praying all goes well...so nervous 😓. I just can't wait to finally be able to hold my bunny again...she absolutely refuses to be picked up!
