    Only buns-who has just one?

I'm sure Abby gets lots of attention and love! There's no reason to feel badly about having a "single," I think. Like you, I've only got one bun, and though I'd like to get one or two more, the time isn't right. When I'm in a more settled situation, others will join Nibbles. Until then, I get...

Snickers likes to pull on the carpet fibers!

Getting other things for him to tug on and yank (stuff that's OK for him to eat) would be helpful, as others have suggested. My bun likes big, heavy woven grass doormats for this, though I don't think anything really compares to the thrill of pulling against a heavy, stationary carpet! ;) She...

Why are bunny growls so cute?

Nibbles growl-grunts when she's excited - it's hard to describe, but it's more of a "grr-honk" sound. She cracks me up. (Such a fierce little 3-lb. Dutch! ;))

    Dotty's nipping!

:yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat: That was a *huge* help with Nibbles. My guess is that she'd been confined to tiny cages prior to ending up at the shelter, and she needed to have a space that was all hers. Once she felt comfortable and "safe" there, we made a lot of progress. It's definitely...

    Dotty's nipping!

Flashy, I did a lot of that (*very gently* pressing down on Nibbles' head and shoulders) when she would nip, and invariably got "apology licks" in response. So that helped, along with praising her when she nosebumped, licked, etc. But really, it came down to time and patience in the end. (That...

What do you find hardest about owning rabbits?

One of the hardest things (so far) for me: Finding people I can trust to care for my buns if/when I need to go out of town. (Especially true in a locale where buns are pretty much viewed as stock animals.) But I'm also sure I'd feel the same way about other species, if I had them.

    Dotty's nipping!

Antidote: 1st, as you say, spaying. But that's not like an "on/off" switch - not only do hormone levels have to drop, she has to get through her teen stage. Both will take time. I've been through this with Nibbles, who was spayed right before I adopted her but was clearly far younger than the...

Maybe this is too much anthropomorphism

Some friends recently created an under-the-bed run/hidey place for their bun, and now she hangs out with them all night. Might not be the *exact* thing Hershey needs, but I'm sure you can modify to suit. :)

    Kleenmama's Hayloft

As you've already said... Her pellets are made for guinea pigs, not rabbits. You'd be far better off feeding pellets made with rabbits' nutritional requirements in mind. (i feed Sweet Meadow timothy pellets here.)

Maybe this is too much anthropomorphism

I'm sure you can... you might have to experiment a bit with different setups, to see what he prefers. As far as wanting you in his space, that doesn't surprise me. My bun has a large ex-pen in my LR and the door is open for her to come and go whenever I'm around to supervise. She often goes...

Thinking of changing pellets & hay

Sweet Meadow timothy pellets are a hit here. And their hays are very nice, though if given a choice, my bun will go for 2nd cut timothy from Kleenmama's Hayloft 1st. Still, she likes SM grass hays, too. I would never go back to Oxbow products.

    Bo's Bunnies and other pets

I *love* the new pics, but you know.... I want to see the one of Bo in the toy horse barn again. (Hint, hint. :))

    my bun made a noise?

Wow, thanks! That's the squawking sound I was trying to describe a little while ago - my bun only does this when she's upset with me. (Really upset.) I've never been able to distinguish between her "happy" grunts and her angry grunts. To my ears, they sound alike, so I have to figure it out...

    my bun made a noise?

Uh oh... sorry! I'll have to check a couple of places and see if his owner has started a new website. The sound is a very deep, guttural "Uhh uhhh uhh." (Seems to come from deep in Simon's chest.) Did you check out the video link I just posted?

    my bun made a noise?

Video of honking/"beeping" bunny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4ogJaVQ2aU&feature=related The audio on this is really good! :)

    my bun made a noise?

I think bunnies are capable of making a *lot* more sounds than most of us realize. My bun (spayed) makes a lot of sounds that are a bit like "grr-honk" (happy noises), and has even squawked - very loudly, in fact! (That's her main "I'm really PO'd at you" sound - it's SO bird-like, it's...

Bunny is bored? Pooping where he shouldn't? Becomes very "long"?

I think one of the keys (as others have said) is letting the bunny come to you, rather than trying to make them do what you want - their need to escape is hard-wired. My bun is no-nonsense when it comes to letting me know that she wants/needs attention. She often does a surprise jump onto my...

The Grieving Corner - a place where we can express our grief

The grief counselor that I've talked with has recommended writing down all the angry thoughts/feelings and just letting them all come out on paper... not trying to edit or censor them. Then, if I feel like it, just destroy everything that I've put down. (I don't feel any need to look over it...

    Does rabbit drink milk??

It's true (Medirabbit, and what Randy said). I have friends who nearly lost their bunny because someone was sneaking their leftover cereal milk to the bun. They went through a horrible stasis episode because of it. (But as Pam said, baby rabbits can handle their own moms' milk just fine.)
