Moving town - worried rabbit will stress

Thanks. We'll definitely do it in one trip. It's not that far.

Moving town - worried rabbit will stress

Thanks. It gets very hot here - high 30s low 40s in summer and frosty in winter. Where we're going is not as hot in summer but much colder in winter, so he will probably have to come indoors at night. I've been exposing him to longer periods of time outside for the last few months, but bring him...

Moving town - worried rabbit will stress

Pluto loves to chew and bite (things, not people). The carpet was a long-term project which I discovered behind the television cabinet, and yes, you are right he patiently pulled each thread of the high pile carpet out one-by-one over a period days or weeks. However, he still chews things, he...

Moving town - worried rabbit will stress

They are very cute. Unfortunately Pluto tears up carpet, so I was hoping to not have to keep him inside. I may have to rethink.

Moving town - worried rabbit will stress

Hi everyone, We are moving to a new town in a couple of weeks. We have bought a house which is fully carpeted, so rabbit will not be able to live indoors any more, except perhaps at night. I am a bit concerned that he won't cope with the stress of moving to a new place and a change of...

    Bunny needs more fiber-suggestions please

I have this problem too. I cut out pellets and greens (like grass and herbs), and only fed him hay, and ended up with an underweight bunny which I had to feed up. The solution I found is the Oxbow brand pellets which are made of Timothy hay. Once Pluto was eating these, normal droppings, no more...

    weight loss and GI stasis

The vet said he's a bit light, but the weight loss was not such a concern. We just need to feed him up a bit. She is going to try to source Oxbow products for me. Flood is also receding, so we're not going to be cut off from the rest of the world (and Pet Barn:-( )

    weight loss and GI stasis

Good news. Pluto has survived the night and is eating and drinking and using the toilet again. He's still on medication, but looks like he's out of the woods.

Thanks, vet has suggested this. I will go in first thing today, as long as I can get through. We'r having a bit of a flood atm

    weight loss and GI stasis

Sadly Pluto is still not eating. The vet is keeping him in hospital overnight and has given him a 50/50 chance. He looked very miserable. I have not fed him Oxbow pellets yet, as I only just found out about them from the forum a little while ago, and didn't know you could get them here...

    weight loss and GI stasis

Hi, I need some help with my bunny. Yesterday I noticed that his poops were smaller and that there weren't very many of them, so I cut back on pellets to encourage him to eat more hay. Yesterday afternoon, when I changed his litter tray, there were hardly any in the tray, and this morning none...

    Pneumonia?? Always paranoid!

In all seriousnesss, you are right, you need to stop looking up things on the internet. The internet is helpful when you have a problem, but when you don't have a problem, people can become anxious by reading too much on the internet. You obviously look after your bunny very well, and he is...

Persistent poopy butt after eating pellets even in little portions

I had this problem, and took the rabbit right off pellets for ages. Every time I reintroduced them very carefully, the mushy poop came back. After quite a while (a couple of months) of just hay and greens, the rabbit can now eat pellets again, but only gets a small amount. Like you, I was...

    Unknown problem with intestinal track

UTI is urinary tract infection. Diagnosed in people with a dipstick into the urine to detect blood and then cultured and checked under a microscope. Not sure about diagnostic procedure for bunnies, but certainly would be able to be checked by a vet. It's caused by the presence of bacteria in the...

Outdoor housing hosting unwanted wildlife? (in Australia)

Thanks. Our hutch sits on top of the ground and is moveable. It's also a bit rickety. I think I will just wear boots and jeans and do a 'snake-check' every morning before bun goes in. There seem to be a lot of snakes around after the mouse plague...:-(

    MY RABBIT RAN AWAY

We had a rabbit which got out and spent a night outside. We put his favourite food out, and he came during the night and ate some, so we knew he was around. The next morning we found him safe and sound, sitting near a bush in the garden. Your bunny probably hasn't gone far. Just put some food...
