Male who's been neutered for over 2 years humping me?

Sorry for bumping a very old thread, but I wanted to post an update in case anybody else ever happens across it. Since my last post, I've had to have Nugget neutered again. About a month or so ago, I brought up his behavioral issues to the exotics vet to get a second opinion. After doing a...

Male who's been neutered for over 2 years humping me?

We've got the same issue where we're at. We have one "cat and exotics" vet clinic and 2 others (a local clinic and a VCA) that each have one vet on staff who will work with rabbits. I really don't like the exotics clinic at all, even though they're probably the "most" rabbit-savvy of the three...

Male who's been neutered for over 2 years humping me?

Nugget had his vet visit on Tuesday and I just wanted to provide an update here. I asked about adrenal issues and the vet said that in those cases there are usually additional physiological symptoms, not just behavioral symptoms. She specifically mentioned that the coat will tend to be dull...

Male who's been neutered for over 2 years humping me?

Oh wow, I really hope it wasn't an improper neuter, as I Imagine the only way to fix that would be another surgery. :( Thank you for the response and additional info. I've just scheduled an appointment with my vet for this upcoming Tuesday, so hopefully we can get to the bottom of this!

Male who's been neutered for over 2 years humping me?

Hi all, I'm in a bit of a predicament. My rabbit, I believe, is in love with me. He's displaying all of the behaviors that young rabbits usually exhibit before they're neutered - circling, grunting, baseboard chewing, and now, mounting - but he's been neutered for over 2 (almost 3) years now...

    Will lavender/chamomile calm rabbits?

So far Nugget hasn't been too bothered by all of the fireworks going off since mid-June (😒), but it got me thinking, does lavender and/or chamomile have a calming effect on rabbits like it does humans? Would it be helpful to offer as a treat when he's stressed or scared about something (any more...

I've been scared to try to bond my rabbit again - advice?

Thank you both for the advice/suggestions. :) I'll definitely be using the car trick! Nugget has never really been confined to any area before for any length of time, so I worry that limiting his space might create other problems, especially if he's blocked off from my boyfriend or me. I...

    How should I punish biting?

No shame here. Rabbit savvy vets are notoriously expensive and are not always the right option anyway IMO. Especially in the US, I feel like our small animal veterinary care is still a decade behind other countries, unfortunately. A local rescue could be an alternative if you've got any nearby...

    How should I punish biting?

It might seem odd, but what really helped in my case was giving our bunny visual cues in his "language". He was a bit of a nibbler when we first got him, and I eventually got the idea to let out a high-pitched EEEEEK whenever he'd bite. It stopped the behavior very quickly. When it comes to...

I've been scared to try to bond my rabbit again - advice?

We have a ~3 year old neutered boy (Nugget) and about a year and a half ago adopted a spayed female (Pickles) to bond with him. When we had taken him to the shelter for the bunny speed date, it was very clear that they immediately hit it off and that she was the one for him. Of course, when we...
