    Rabbit bonding and behavior

Hi, everyone, I have posted about my two rabbits Boo and June. They live side by side in a large divided room. They are both dominant Does and would fight terribly when we tried to bond them. They have been living together this way almost two years. In the past few months I notice them trying...

    Bonding Rabbits

They do seem relatively content. We may try again when we are feeling strong. Thanks for your reply. Rita

    Bonding Rabbits

Yes, both bunnies are spayed and we did bond in neutral territory. We even tried stress bonding which worked for short periods of time. They are both sweet girls with very strong doe territory instinct.

    Bonding Rabbits

Thank you so much for your response. That makes total sense to me as I think they are trying to make the best of the situation. When they were together I felt that on some level they wanted to just get along but the instinct was just too strong to fight for dominance. I just want them to be as...

    Bonding Rabbits

Hi, my name is Rita and I posted on this forum about a year ago. One of my two bonded bunnies died and I adopted another. We tried to bond them but they just about killed each other. So I split a room in half put up a fence and they have lived side by side for the past year. I often find them...

    Bunny Whisperer

Thank you for your reply. Your comments about Boo (my female Doe who lost her mate) makes me fear that she will do the same to all the bunnies offered for bonding. In which case I take your suggestion and split the room in half or give June (the adopted bunny) back to the humane society and...

    Bunny Whisperer

They do not lunge at each other through the cage and sometimes they groom themselves side by side with the cage inbetween. You don't think that denotes some comfort? Rita

    Bunny Whisperer

Thank you so much for all the information in your thread. I initially hurried on getting a new partner because I was told that if my grieving Doe was left too long alone she could possibly go off bonding with another rabbit altogether. Bad advice but it made me worry. The reason I want the bond...

    Bunny Whisperer

Hi, my name is Rita and I have recently poted about bonding my two female dwarf rabbits. My husband and I have tried to bond them doing everything in the book but they are still very aggressive with each other. I had considered returning the adopted bunny back to the Humane Society but I just...

    Bonding Still Trying

Yes they are both fixed. They are both female, both Netherlands Dwarf and both about two and half pounds. The only difference is one is white and brown and the other is black and brown. Both are very sweet on their own but monstrous to each other. Rita

    Bonding Still Trying

You are probably right. After discussing bringing June bug back to the Humane Society we have calmed down and. committed ourselves to rotating their time outside of their cages. We will keep trying over time. As I said the getting along when one is in her cage might be as good as it gets...

    Bonding Still Trying

All the videos we watch show the rabbits snuggling and grooming at least half the time. We have had none of that. We have been bonding now several times a day for a week. Tried again this morning and they locked teeth we could not get them apart for a few seconds. My female Boo had a head tilt...

    Bonding Still Trying

So my husband and I had a pretty intense bonding session with mour 2 year old Doe Boo and our adopted 2 year old Doe June Bug. If we had them in a stressed situation there was no fighting. The minute we put them in a small neutral space there was head to head fighting constantly. If we did not...

    Rabbit bonding problems

Actually it is just the two females. My older Male died a month ago. He was nine and Boo is two. So I adopted June Bug at the Humane society two weeks ago. I will check on when she was fixed. Your right that might one of the problems. My husband said maybe we just keep both and keep them...

    Rabbit bonding problems

Thank you so much for the advice. It is a long hard road with bunny bonding. My current female did not like my older male initially two years ago but over time they did bond and it was a wonderful thing to behold. They literally had eyes only for each other. I feel like my rabbit Boo is...
