    An Unexpected Guest

    Newton died today.

    RIP Unnamed Babe

One of the feral domestic babies was killed today. One of the dogs got it and accidentally broke its back trying to play with it, so I ended up having to put it out of its misery. It's a shame, but that's life I suppose.

    Zoonotic Diseases

Hello all, my sister seems to be coming down with Mononucleosis. While I know that the vast majority of human viruses and diseases can't be transmitted to animals, I was wondering if anyone has a list of exactly which ones are, but if you don't, can you at least tell me if Mono is one?

    Flooring ideas

I'm also looking for ideas for permanent flooring or something to cover the floor with to be semi-permanent. I'll look into it, but my concern is the same as yours.

    Flooring ideas

I've actually already looked into that, but there are no "cheap" hardware stores around. Everything local seems to be high-end and very expensive. Cheapest I could find was $7.76/sqft for refurbished lino.

    Feral Rabbits - Eastern Washington

Yeah, we get really harsh winters out here. This one wasn't so bad as far as snowfall, but it did get insanely cold again. We usually get around 2 feet of snow and then every third year or so get a real bad weather cycle and get like 4 feet dumped on us. I used to see the Nuttal's all the...

    Feral Rabbits - Eastern Washington

I was previously under the impression (had been told by what I assumed to be a knowledgeable person) that domestic rabbits couldn't even survive a winter here. I did Google it, and I found nothing for my area. All the rescues I found were too far west for them to help.

    Feral Rabbits - Eastern Washington

Does know of any rabbit rescues in or near the Spokane area that will come trap feral domestic rabbits? Someone released 3 adults last fall and they've been breeding and surviving through the winter. In fact, Newton and Emily are most definitely from this feral colony. There are at least 7...

    Invasive post surgery worry

I've never gone through anything like that, but I can tell you that's a pretty major surgery. I wouldn't worry about how she's acting, even 2 weeks after something that invasive it'll still be tender. If you're really worried, it can't hurt to make an appointment just to have her checked up on.

    Flooring ideas

My apologies, sometimes my brain doesn't work quite right when I'm typing. I meant to say the subflooring (particle board?). Newton is caged about 16 hours a day (LivingWorld brand 3x2x2) currently, as I can only allow him run time when I can make sure he isn't chewing or peeing on the...

    Nail Trimming

That was very informative, but I can't imagine Newton letting anyone hold him like that. If he doesn't have 4 points of contact he isn't a happy camper. He doesn't mind being held or picked up though as long as all 4 feet are touching you.

    Flooring ideas

Hello all. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on easily cleaned flooring that rabbits either won't chew on or is safe to be chewed on. Newton is unfixed (currently in the process of saving the exorbitant amount of money it costs) and as such occasionally pees outside the litterbox. I...

    Nail Trimming

Newton badly needs his rear nails trimmed. He'll hold still enough for me to cut his front but he panics and hides when I put the clippers anywhere near his back feet. I can't use the blanket technique that's been suggested because he thinks it's a game when I cover him with a towel and when I...

Risk of another stroke after one stroke for rabbit?

This is a VERY bad attitude to have. Spaying has many health benefits for your rabbit including reducing the risk of reproductive cancers from 99% to 0% and increasing their natural lifespan by around 50%. I'm sorry that your rabbit had complications but you can't allow that to be the reason...

    Help. Cockroaches!!!

If you're in an apartment complex, you need to move or get your neighbors to agree to treat their apartments as well. If even 1 person doesn't, the roaches will return without fail.

    Help. Cockroaches!!!

Look into a steam treatment if possible. It's a bit more expensive but eliminates the use of poisons, traps and otherwise unfriendly things for your bun.

    Broken Nail with Blood

Last night around 4am Newton broke one of the toenails on his right front foot. I don't know how exactly, as I only noticed it after noticing drops of blood on his bedding. It's clearly broken near the base and is hanging loosely (or so it appears; I'm afraid to mess with it at the moment). The...

    What can I do.

Get rid of the wire flooring if at all possible. That can and will eventually (if it hasn't already) begin to aggravate the Arthritis and make it a much bigger issue than it has to be.

    Toys for picky buns

What do you guys and gals (or anything else, if that's relevant to you) give your furballs to chew on and play with? Newton won't take to anything not made of rice or corn husks and he can tear through a whole package of those in a day if I let him. I've tried wood chews, pumice chews, rope...
