    Spay Scar

Just an update: I noticed a spot of blood in Lily's urine and she had a lump on her breast that had been aspirated but the results were inconclusive, so we ended up booking a surgery to get that removed and have her spayed at the same time. It turns out not only was she not spayed, but she...

Sorry, I got your reply confused with another on a different forum.

    Spay Scar

Thanks, JBun! I'm going to call around to see if I can get a better price on an ultrasound and ask about blood tests! Hopefully I can find someone here who'll do it for closer to the price you quoted.

    Spay Scar

Thanks for the reply, Aki. My vet told me the only way to tell would be an ultrasound (also $400), so I'd be better off just going for the surgery and seeing what they find. We've dropped more than $1500 on her in the last few months between vet appointments and emergency stuff, so I really...

    Spay Scar

I've got a bit of a conundrum. I have a 5-7-year-old female mini rex named Lily who I adopted around 3.5 months ago. I was told she was fixed. Since then, however, she has displayed a bit (and I mean a bit, only once each) of behavior (nesting, urine spraying) I believe to be more associated...

    Meet my new bunny!

He reminds me of a panda! Adorable!

    Crazy rabbit noises

My female Lily used to make noises exactly like that for the first few weeks of bonding her to our male, Squeeven. She made it whenever he tried to groom her, especially her bum, so I think it's territorial/a warning sound.

    Won't Eat Hay & Diarrhoea

I second stevesmum on this. If the hay is fresh and you're topping it up every few hours and he still won't touch it, then there must be an underlying health problem that should be addressed right away. Off to the vet with Zeik! Good luck!

    Bonding

Some rabbits are just more affectionate than others. My Lily is extremely lovable and comes out of her pen to sit by me and lowers her head for pets every time I sit down on the floor, any time of day. Squeeven, however, recoils from my advances often and used to only approach when he suspected...

what may cause of this ?

Hi Marwan, this could be caused by malocclusion (teeth that are too long) or other tooth/mouth issues. I've even heard of it being a symptom of mouth breathing. I would suggest a vet checkup to ensure it doesn't escalate into causing issues with eating and leads to stasis.

    My rabbits' favorite toy

The only downside is a few pellets on the floor, but it's definitely worth it for like 2 hours on entertainment daily.

    My rabbits' favorite toy

Hi all! I just wanted to recommend a super cool toy my Lily and Squeeven both can't get enough of. It's a ball with adjustable holes in it that acts as both a toy and a feeder. It's called a SlimCat Interactive Feeder by Petsafe (http://store.petsafe.net/slimcat-interactive-feeder), though I'm...

    Is this bed safe?

I have something very similar (though admittedly less cute!) for my rabbits and it's fine so far. They tend to try to dig in it a little so I put a towel over the inside cushion to prevent them from ripping it open. As long as you check it regularly for rips/stuffing coming out and ensure, if...

what wood sticks to chew on

A lot of tree branches are toxic until they are aged (minimum 30 days), so definitely don't just pick them off the tree and offer them to your bunny. I've heard apple branches are ok right away, but make sure they haven't been spray with pesticides! Untreated wicker items (baskets, balls) are...

Anyone in Halifax/Dartmouth, Nova Scotia area?

Hiya! I'm a fairly new rabbit owner (9.5 weeks) and I'm just wondering if there's anyone in my area who wants to talk bunnies, ex. pet shops around, where it's best to get hay, toys, cardboard boxes, maybe even going in together on any online orders to split on crazy shipping fees...

Hello from Nova Scotia, and pleased to meet you!

It occurs to me I'm probably committing some sort of cardinal sin by not posting a picture, so here it is!

Hello from Nova Scotia, and pleased to meet you!

Hi everyone! I'm a rather new bun mum and have been reading this forum for advice and insight for 10 weeks now. My sweet buns are Lily, a 5-7 year old (fixed) female mini rex and her buddy Squeeven, a 2-year-old (fixed) male of indeterminate breed. Life's crazy here because my bunnies are in the...

    Bonding Lily and Squeeven

Thanks for the insight. It's true, I would definitely say they aren't bonded, but there hasn't been a single fight in more than 3 weeks. They still switch enclosures every night and often lie together (meaning: heads touching, or only an inch or two apart) on the top level of the condo, so I...
