    Breed research

Some great advice here, thank you! I've definitely heard of some of those names, especially Jann Hall, in some of my research. I've noticed the debate you mention, because it is a heritage breed, and the push to perhaps have them shown running the table, but I hadn't heard about Florida Whites...

    Breed research

How do you guys find out more about bloodlines specific to your breed? I used to breed horses, so I'm used to pedigree information and show records being pretty easy to research, but rabbit breeding and showing is very different. I want to breed Silvers in the future; I'm in no position to start...

Most popular rabbit breed for pet

TBH for the large welfare organization I'm most familiar with, I suspect the "call everything American" may be a result of that being the first breed in a drop-down list that volunteers are choosing from. I really would prefer they be more accurate, though. Intentional or no, I agree that it can...

    Are we projecting here?

Liung, my rabbits have demonstrated the same thing -- tricks that I've taught Bouncealot, Mabari has figured out just by watching (and she's more food-motivated so when he gets leery and won't come give kisses, she charges over to they can get fed lol)

    Another buN

The lower mainland SPCA branches typically have rabbits available (and will sometimes waive adoption fees for rabbits -- I'm up north but my local branch adopted my girl out to me for a donation of my choosing). Surrey, Port Coquitlam, Richmond, and Vancouver branches all have rabbits at the...

    Affectionate Phoenix

I don't think I could deny that face anything! What a sweet bun!

    I'm obsessed with my rabbit.

My two bunz (and Roomie's bun upstairs) have me wrapped around their little paws. Most of the produce I buy is for them, and I keep trying to come up with the best living arrangements. Everyone I know is well aware that I have rabbits. I haven't been called crazy bunny lady at work . . . yet...

    Lovable Bun

Snuggle buns are the best! Bouncealot is a busy bun most of the time, but he loves to come up on my bed in the morning for pets.

Thought you would all like this photo

The guilt is strong in this one . . . I'd have a hard time leaving that face :biggrin2:

    Proud!

Earning a bunny's trust is such a wonderful thing. And what a pretty bun he is!

    snip....snip...

I was super nervous when Bouncealot went in for his neutering, too, but he dealt with it just fine. At my best guess, he's a Lionhead/Jersey Wooly X, and they just shaved the incision area. He started growing fur back in that area right away, unlike poor Mabari after her spay -- she had a bald...

    New Bunny!

Pretty boy! Basil is a super cute name for him. Brainstorming other name ideas, I come up with: Toast, Brulee, Cola, Benjamin, Sandy, Dune, or Griffith. Good luck showing your handsome new guy :).

    Lady Mabari

I got Lady Mabari from the local SPCA. She is a black spayed doe who looks like she's probably a Netherland Dwarf or Netherland Dwarf cross. This lovely little girl has an old break in her right hind leg that healed incorrectly, and her right foot sticks out at an odd angle. Although this limits...

    The Gallant Ser Bouncealot

Wow, a lot has happened since I've posted last! The biggest is the addition of Lady Mabari, the teeny black probably-Netherland X doe I got from the SPCA. She has one leg that was apparently broken a long time ago and fused in the wrong position, but she doesn't let that slow her down too much...

    overexcited for food

Bagels Bunny occasionally nips (he can be aggressive in his pen) at feeding time, so Roomie taught him to jump up onto his tub and get pets before he can get his pellets in his dish on the floor. This seems to be working quite well for him.

    A new little lady

She has a gorgeous, glossy black coat, and her ears are so velvety soft that she really is very nice to pet. However, I'm not very good at taking pictures of her yet where she doesn't end up looking like a little black blob ^^;.

    A new little lady

Thanks, guys! I should mention that her right leg sticks out like that because of an old break that healed in that position. She gets around surprisingly well on it. It was impossible not to fall in love with such a little trooper. She's eating and drinking like a champ, and doesn't seem...

    A new little lady

This is Lady Mabari, the black Nethie X doe I brought home from the SPCA this afternoon. She was just spayed a couple of days ago but seems to be doing well. She and Ser Bouncealot are eyeballing each other from their separate cages *lol*. It's not love at first sight, but once she's all healed...

    Growing Food for Rabbits?!

I'm not much of a gardener but this year I planted parsley, mint, cilantro, kale, and leaf lettuce. The bunz certainly seemed to appreciate the fresh food. I fed them a fair amount of dandelions, too. Mine was planted outside in the front flower beds -- winter will soon get the last of my kale...
