    Senior bunny - concerning behaviour

Stan is so much more cheerful lately- we even got the HUGEST binky out of him two afternoons ago! He may not have much more time on this earth but it looks like he's really making the most of it 😊

    Senior bunny - concerning behaviour

Stan seems to be doing a little better - we've been able to drop his meds to just the heart meds and skip the diuretic. That said, his behaviour has shifted again completely. He'll only eat his greens when we are not around - only at night. He also sits in his little home (made of a few...

    Caring for a depressed bunny

ohhh I'm so sorry to hear about this. It will obviously take him for him to come around, much like anyone dealing with a death. But he knows you love him and that you're mourning too - it's a hard time for everyone. Sending lots of support your way.

    Senior bunny - concerning behaviour

absolutely Nancy - we spoke to the vet about this when she last came around. We had mentioned to her that we thought he was depressed, and were concerned about his quality of life. I cried at her when I was explaining, because I honestly felt that perhaps we were doing the wrong thing, having...

    Senior bunny - concerning behaviour

Hi JBun, thanks! We have tried banana, but he's really not into it. We have one fussy bunny! He also doesn't like the apple flavoured critical care.

    Introducing Stanley Rabbit

forgive me for the duplicate post (I have another thread where I posted this same information) but thought I should share some updates with you: Defying the vets suspicions, our little man is still with us! His behaviours and his appetite wax and wane - he has days were he is very confused and...

    Senior bunny - concerning behaviour

Hi all, Thought I'd give you a little update :) Defying the vets suspicions, our little man is still with us! His behaviours and his appetite wax and wane - he has days were he is very confused and avoids us, hardly eats, and days (like today) were we get up in the morning and he greets us for...

    Senior bunny - concerning behaviour

Also, if anyone has any tips on how to make a critically ill rabbit comfortable, that would be really helpful. We have already elevated his food (I think he has trouble breathing when his head is close to the ground), and have put down lots of blankets. He has lots little dark cosy spots to...

    Senior bunny - concerning behaviour

thank you - it means a lot. It's heartbreaking to think that just a few days ago he was coming outside with us and happily hopping around, exploring. Now he can barely move from his little rug to his food..

    Senior bunny - concerning behaviour

Thanks, PaGal. He got through the night okay but now we are having trouble getting food into him, which I'm concerned may be the final push.

    Introducing Stanley Rabbit

Our vet just came over to see Stanley and run a few more checks - she has confirmed that he has heart disease, which is terminal. He may not see out the next few days. It's heartbreaking. We made the decision not to return him to the rescue centre (technically we are his foster parents, so when...

    Senior bunny - concerning behaviour

Hi guys, Our vet (who really is a good vet - she's specifically a bunny doctor, that is all she does - here in Australia they do not offer such specialisations due to rabbits still being seen as pests, but she studied in the UK and comes highly, highly recommended) came out today to do some...

    Introducing Stanley Rabbit

Thank you so much, Tauntz. I think we will be taking him into the vet this afternoon and will let you know if we find out any more information on his condition. Poor little one.

    Senior bunny - concerning behaviour

Thank you both so much for responding. PaGal, I think his teeth are okay - he's still eating pellets (sporadically, but definitely eating them) and also enjoying carrot when he does feel like eating. He's also still eatings greens, but it seems to be more laboursome than it was before - almost...

    Senior bunny - concerning behaviour

In addition: this is strange, but he is chewing his food differently. It sounds loud and wet, and it seems to take him a long time to chew. I really have no idea what might be wrong :(

    Introducing Stanley Rabbit

Thanks everyone! Unfortunately, Stan has taken a turn over the last 24 hours. We had him to the vets yesterday, and all his tests came back clear. But something seems very wrong with our little man, and we're really worried. Will keep you updated.

    Senior bunny - concerning behaviour

Hi all, I posted an introduction about a month ago - we have a 10 year old bunny that we adopted recently. So far he's been in good health and spirits. For context: Lately, we noticed him drinking a lot more water than usual and more frequent urination. When we adopted him we were told to...
