Spikes on molars but hates wood chews!

She’s just shy of 7 pounds & her hay is refreshed 2-3 times a day. I only give about a 1/3 cup of pellets a day, split into two feedings, half in the morning and half at night, for that reason specifically. I’m hard pressed to believe that ONLY hay grinds the molars.

Spikes on molars but hates wood chews!

I had a wellness vet check recently for my senior bun. Everything checked out great! They were like “wow she’s old. But very healthy, besides a bit of spikes on her back molars on the right side.” They said with her age (8+) that they’re not too keen on putting her under anesthesia to file...

Hardish stomach but no other issues?

I’ll preface by saying that I have a vet appointment already set up for after the weekend— just seeing if anyone has any clues! My girl is probably about 6-8 years old, I’ve had her for 4. She is a retired 4H rabbit (used to teach kids about rabbitry), I adopted her after the kid she was...

    Urine colour change suddenly—

She’s definitely not leaking or having issues when deciding to go. And only going in her normal area’s and slightly more “marking” places, which I expected with the new addition. Starting to think she was marking a lot, causing dehydration. This last half hour I’ve seen her mark areas with...

    Urine colour change suddenly—

Her appetite hasn’t changed, which is what is confusing me. I have another bun that is very sensitive to digestive issues (dealt with bouts of stasis since I adopted her) & this doesn’t seem like that’s it. She’s still chilling out in her normal ways. I’m going to stop the new herbs completely...

    Urine colour change suddenly—

That was my first idea after some googling. But she nothing has really changed. I did get some new mix of I saw this as well, and she did have a new mix of dried herbs/flowers & such. It seems like such a drastic change for a treat I give only once a week. But then I think of my “system” when...

    Urine colour change suddenly—

I’ve had my bun for a 4ish years. Within the last month her urine colour has gone from a yellow to a dark orange. She’s still eating, drinking and being as active as she normally is. The only thing I can think of is dehydration, so I got her a bigger water dish. She’s not peeing anywhere out of...

    Intro questions.

Update— New girl is here. She’s in her cage from her old home in a separate room from my girl, who is free range, but we gate into the kitchen because bunnies love to eat our carpet My girl did come out into the living room for some close watched roaming. The new girl was not phased. She was...

    Intro questions.

My last rabbit was a very lone rabbit, but now I have a girl that I know benefit from having another bun to binky around with. Here’s the part I need help with. My current girl, Toshi, is unspayed, she was a 4-H rabbit, so there was a chance she would be bred. She’s been with us for a couple...

    Confusing behaviors?

I rescued a retired 4H rabbit about a week ago! She’s a ham and such a cuddle bug!!! But she’s mixing aggressive behaviors with happy behaviors. She’s certainly territorial about her cage, but nothing too alarming. She’s keeps honking? And slightly lunging, but never like she’s actually going...

Retired 4H Bun Needs Help Adjusting

I recently had to put down my heart rabbit a few months ago, and he’s been my only rabbit. A vet student in my area contacted me after seeing I had also lost my last boy ratty. She tells me a few months ago, someone surrendered a retired 4H rabbit, that was quite the award winner, to her...

Sludge in Disabled Rabbit/Water Intake Qs

Last night, he had sludge, but this morning I found him in a puddle of a lot of pee. I cleaned him up, helped him express his bladder, again a lot of very clear pee. I expressed once more today, and again, just a lot of urine, no sludge, a little sediment. I gave the vet a call when they opened...

    Sad bunny

My bun has been a loner his whole life, and has been extremely happy, but I've dealt with this in rats, who are also super social. Give him some time, he's certainly grieving, and probably just needs your attention and love just like you need some in this hard time. If you're ready for another...

Sludge in Disabled Rabbit/Water Intake Qs

I've had a few threads about Hootie's problems, but long story short, important questions bolded for time: 6-7 year old New Zealand, been with me for at least 5 years, about 5ish pounds Lost his hind right leg in February due to a bad break, healed beautifully. A month ago he slipped a disc in...

    Gabapentin Nerve Damage Experience?

Read below for the full story, but main questions: Dealing with nerve damage (hind leg on already 3 legged rabbit... Special circumstances), how long should I keep him confined to small movements (he's been confined to a 36x23 dog crate for a month)? As far as improving nerve damage, is it slow...

    I’m frustrated

I have a diva boy, SAME way. Although, loves me very, very much any other time, will turn his back on anyone involved in trimming his nails. Our trick? An old t-shirt, and as katiecrna said, teammwork. Put the bun in it all the way, wrapped everywhere. Pull one foot out a sleeve, trim, put back...

Gaining bladder control after nerve damage?

I've bolded the important parts for TLDR situations, I just have a lot on my mind... I wrote a bit ago about Hootie having urine scaled. I assumed it was from the fact that he had an amputation of his hind leg back in February after a nasty, mystery break, and he was just adjusting weird to a...

    Urine Scald/Cecotropes in Disabled Rabbit

Hootie had surgery to have his hind leg removed after a break too far up to repair about three months ago. He's been doing really well adjusting, and even navigating on tile floors! However, he's having some trouble cleaning everything down there. I'm not sure why it's just starting now, but...

3 legged rabbit injured good hind leg!

He even checked out his new stump, and he said that it healed BEAUTIFULLY. He doesn't seem to be trying to use the stump to do anything, which is good, and his other leg felt very strong and healthy, other than the toe issue, and is adjusting the the weight distribution nicely. So just an...

3 legged rabbit injured good hind leg!

We just got back from the vet! Just a bad sprain in his toes, he's 99.9% sure. He said he's not really even that sensitive to him touching it, which almost certainly rules out a break. He sent us home with another week of pain meds, and we'll keep him in his recovery cage until the last dose...
