    Encephalitozoan Cuniculi

My bunny (Shayze) was acting very strange... poor thing would fall over if he stood on his hind legs to get a treat, and he was tilting his head. He was of course brought to the vet and they tested him for (what the paper says is) "idexx encephalitozoan". They called yesterday and told us it was...

    Change In Potty Habits

Ok here's the update! Shayze is going to be ok :) - He has dry skin on the bottoms of his feet and a sore on his left foot. We have a blanket down so his feet became very tender apparently. We have medicine to give him for pain, an antibiotic (cephalexin i believe), and some cream to put on his...

    Change In Potty Habits

I appologize for the LOOONG wait. We contacted the vet last week and they wanted us to try a few things like changing his blanket so he couldn't smell where he'd been before and that sort of thing. Well - it didn't work, so he has an appointment with a highly recommended doctor tomorrow. I wont...

    Change In Potty Habits

I just got off the phone with my mom and I told her that you all thought it could be a UTI - of course she wasn't thrilled with that news, but she's going to give the vet a call tomorrow and see about making an appointment I think. Thank You! I LOVE this forum and all of you guys :)

Well my parents are in Goldsboro. And no... I'll have to look that up - not sure if I knew that existed or not.

    Change In Potty Habits

I talked to my mom a little bit ago and her and my dad both agree its about time for a checkup anyway. The problem is - there are two vets sort of far away. They are ran by a couple who are divorced now, so the man runs one and the wife the other. My mom doesn't know when she will be able to...

    Change In Potty Habits

Yeah they could leave the little tv on for him - we have a sugar glider that he can watch at night, but she's probably more annoying than comforting. She was there before Shayze was, so I don't think she has anything to do with it. Seems like this is a new thing - we havent noticed him peeing...

    Change In Potty Habits

Awww! Well is there anything we can do about that. They don't leave every weekend, but their routine is pretty set during the week, and pretty random on weekends. Sometimes they go out of town, and sometimes they stick around the house. We're going to change the blanket (i'll try to find some...

    Change In Potty Habits

I wouldn't say change in environment - I guess he could get mad when my parents are gone for the weekend, but other than that nothing really has changed. Same litterbox, same litter, no additional animals, same environment for the most part. Kind of has us stumped...

    Change In Potty Habits

Hi everyone! It has been SUCH a long time since I have been on here. My mother has the only bunny I have left and is taking care of him until I can find a place to live that would be bunny safe. He IS potty trained - or at least we thought he was. She has had him for a little over a year now (i...

    My Sweet Bayle

Apparently it was something related to septra not penicillin or amoxicillin.... He ended up with rectal colitis according to the vet. Ok here's a better version of what all happened. A few weeks ago he was diagnosed with a UTI (there was blood in hisurine) and the vet said he was anemic...

I'm not 100% sure what the antibiotics were, but I will definately find out. How come? Are they particularly harmful?

    My Sweet Bayle

I don't know what to do....

Please don't appologize for long posts, I needall the advice I can get! Shayze has always been veryskittish. I'm not exactly sure if its a sight problem, butthe more I observe the situation, it persuades me to think that hecan't see as well as our first bunny. You are correct when you say I...

I don't know what to do....

This post is directed towards Gypsy... but all advice is welcome. I made a post not too long ago indicating that my bunny (Shayze), whois ALBINO (i think this has a factor in it) may not be able to see verywell. I believe Gypsy said she had a blind bunny? Idefinately need some advice...
