    Keeping glands clean?

Saw his vet today again, and looks like he will need all incisors extracted...this is probably the cause for everything else, including his lack of cleaning himself :P

I don't know if my rabbit's teeth are too long or not, pls help!

My bun is the same - I have offered everything under the sun, and he doesn't chew any of it. He gets routine trimming every three months. These teeth are definitely overgrown. I would get him to the vet ASAP.

    Keeping glands clean?

The vet says he is at perfect weight - not chunky, and not bony. His diet consists of mostly Timothy hay, 1/4 cup of pellets per day, two handfuls of fresh leafy green variety per day, and the very occasional fruit or veggie treat. EDIT: His hay is open, so I do not have a measurement of...

    Keeping glands clean?

My 2.5 year old neutered Lionhead/Lop mix has been getting a very messy back end lately...I have had the chance to look, and it's buildup from his glands. He has some fuzz back there, so I know this could be contributing, but the extreme buildup has only been going on for a couple of months...

Peeing in a new spot in hutch!

Hi all, In the last couple of weeks, my neutered, potty trained male bun has found a new favorite pee spot in his hutch...right at the bottom of the ramp in the corner. The litter box does not fit over there, and we have cleaned the floor and the wood with vinegar. Is there something else...

Common dental problems in flat faced rabbits?

Thank you both for your replies. This is my first rabbit, so I definitely had no idea about things like this when I got him. I will try some of your suggestions, lopsofloverabbitry. Thank you for them. And Maureen Las, thank you for your insight...I try to take the best care of all my pets...

Do rabbits purr for other rabbits?

I am not sure if I have heard purring, but my bun buzzes when he plays with my Shih Tzu...he follows her around and they interact and play. It's super cute.

Common dental problems in flat faced rabbits?

Hi All, My bun was just neutered on Monday at a local vet (all went well), and I had asked that she look in his mouth while he was under because I can't look at his teeth myself. Found out at pickup that his top incisors and right cheek teeth are a little overgrown, but she did not have the...

Revolution on buns? And ideal neuter age?

Thank you Aki. I thought so too, about letting them grow and reach maturity first before neutering.

Revolution on buns? And ideal neuter age?

I got him approximately at 6 months of age, but his true age is unknown. Seems he just got big these last 6 or so months. And, he is also an indoor bunny. The previous owner had him outside, so it might have been how the mites got so bad...haven't had a problem with them since until now. I do...

Revolution on buns? And ideal neuter age?

Two questions here: my Lionhead/mini Lop, Haigha, is almost 2 years old and about 4lbs. I was waiting to neuter, because I have read research that early spay/neuter on many species, to include dogs and ferrets, can lead to a shorter life span and more health problems. He was also very tiny when...

Natural raw food diet for buns?

Sorry, I did mean "raw" as in a raw plant-based diet, and no processed rabbit food. I would like to transition him to a diet that does not include pellets at all, or very minimal pellets. He gets greens every day, occasionally fruits and veggies, but I'm pretty sure the packaged rabbit food...

Natural raw food diet for buns?

My bun is very small - 3.5lbs. And I have asked the vet...she recommended minimal greens, fruits and veggies, and mostly pellets... She is the only local rabbit vet. Which is why I asked here.

Natural raw food diet for buns?

Does anyone have links, info or advice for getting my bun on a raw food diet, and what that consists of? Thanks :)

Outdoor run - yay or nay? Advice?

Who has an idea for an outside bunny enclosure in Tennessee? We have a chain link dog run in excellent condition that someone previously had put up in our backyard. I was thinking about reinforcing it with chicken wire, screen, and closing the top of it for potential snakes and/or predators...

    Neutering...uneasy about it.

My husband is mostly worried about the money. It's about $100 to neuter a rabbit, plus pain meds to go home. We got him a year ago, and had him treated for severe ear mite infection, and he went to the vet again 6 months ago when his testes dropped (he was sexed as a female originally). So my...

    Neutering...uneasy about it.

Missyscove, his cage opens from the top (home made) so I have to pick him up to bring him out. He doesn't mind this, just doesn't like it if you don't put him back down. He is a very confident and curious bunny...hops up to me, even on or over me. I am no longer bringing him out in the house...

    Neutering...uneasy about it.

Hi all, I have a ~1.5 year Mini Lop/Lionhead mix rabbit, about 3.5lbs. He is my first bun, had him about a year. Many thoughts going on about having him neutered, so bare with me here. He is currently living indoors, not potty trained, cage-aggressive when it's feeding time, and not an...

    Hermaphrodite rabbit?

My bun was "female" when I got it...breeder, previous owner and vet were all sure of this! And seriously overnight it seems, the testicles appeared. And he is absolutely male. He was 9 months old when we discovered this. Looks like yours definitely has testicles..top picture is unclear.

    Shedding!!

My rabbit began shedding like mad over the last few weeks. I just de-shedded all of my dogs, but I have no idea what's safe to use on my bun. I brushed him with a slicker brush today, because his coat is getting pretty clumpy. He's a bit of a brat (bites when I do the nails and for brushing) but...
