Getting apartment sprayed for fleas, rabbit safe?

Not sure how realistic the combing and vacuum only method is. It just takes one flea, or one egg, to survive to generate another 1000 eggs and fleas. If they were my rabbits, I would take them out of the house for the ten days, just to be save. Maybe you have friends who could take them in for...

    Trio bonding advice please!!

That's a tough question. My rabbits are not caged, they are litter box trained and have the run of the house and backyard, and "insist" that doors be kept open (or else). I really don't want to get this rabbit out of one cage to place him in another.

    Bonding help please!!!

Even if you weren't trying to bond her, you should have her spayed asap, otherwise, there is a high risk you will lose her to uterine cancer.

    Trio bonding advice please!!

I need advice about a possible adoption of a six-year old rabbit. I have two rabbits, a bonded pair: an almost 8 year-old female (I adopted her when she was 2) and an almost 3 year-old male (adopted 1 1/2 years ago). Both are neutered/spayed and are kept as house rabbits, are healthy...

Nala and Gaz get a "Nermal" [a journal on trio bonding]

Mmmm... that seems good advice. You're right, Charlie would be much easier to bond with a new rabbit than Clementine. And I was indeed concerned about her ending up getting alienated if the new rabbit would only bond with Charlie. Unfortunately our shelter doesn't allow bunny dates, but they do...

Nala and Gaz get a "Nermal" [a journal on trio bonding]

I posted some comments back in the summer when I decided to adopt a male from the shelter for my older female. I was looking for somebody her age (6 years old), but all they had were younger rabbits. Our dog had just died and the rabbit was lonely, so I didn't want to wait any longer and just...

Does This Happen to Anyone Else?

This thread is just too cute :)

    New Bunny Not Hopping

You can get inexpensive cat litter boxes and use a paper based bedding (no wood shavings, no cat litters). Rabbits learn using the boxes very quickly. I started in one room and put a box in each corner. Once the rabbit went in one box, I took some of the poop or soiled bedding and put it into...

Why does my rabbit sleep in her litter tray

My rabbits love hanging out in their litterboxes. I just keep the boxes very clean. I use perfume/dye-free carefresh bedding and clean the pee corner every day and the whole box once or twice a week. I don't think you could/should stop her from hanging out in her box, unless you want to confuse...

    Fighting

The neutering should help. It seems like they turn from Dr. Jekyll into Mr. Hyde when the hormones kick in. I would separate them but put the cages next to each other so they can stay close to each other. If Smokey attacks Fred through the cage wall, I would move it just a little so they cannot...

    Bonding Help Please

It has been over a month and a half that we brought home Charlie from the shelter. After initial difficulties, thumping, mounting, growling, poop and pee wars, both are now completely bonded. It is a joy to watch them together and to see how happy they make each other. I have seen a big change...

    Bonding Help Please

I wouldn't call it a love affair yet, but definitely a blooming friendship. They now hang out next to each other most of the day with just a few moments of mutual retreat. All chasing has stopped completely and they have started to "synchronize" all their bunny activities: grooming themselves...

    Bonding Help Please

I think that maybe it's been a slow process but without any aggression because they are not confined to a small place together. There is plenty of space and opportunities for each one to retreat when they want. On Monday I will take them both in the carrier to the vet. They are both healthy but...

    Bonding Help Please

Fingers crossed... so far it's been slow but definitely steadily improving. This is a pic from this morning.

Is this something I should be concerned about or is this normal? Small poops

My rabbit Clementine had two episodes about a year ago. What made her better was this: I warmed towels in the dryer and gently wrapped her in them to get her temp back up (did you feel your rabbit's years? I would only do this if she feels cold) I warmed some water to a little more than room...

    Bonding Help Please

This must be the slowest bonding process ever. Each bunny claimed one bedroom and started hanging out under "their bed". After a while they would occasionally switch and swap beds. I feed them together, they eat side by side, then hop off each to another part of the house. Charlie continues to...

    Bonding Help Please

So I took them for the ride yesterday and on top of it started thundering and lightning. The two were trembling in the carrier and all I could think was how rotten of a persona I am. Before we left, I prepared their dinner and some banana as a special treat in the neutral zone. After the return...

    Bonding Help Please

I had hoped to be able to bring Clementine to the shelter to let her pick out her friend, but it was just a local kill shelter. They have a high turn over. Rabbits get brought in, neutered/spayed, and only stay for a short time (happy or not happy ending). It was also not easy to find a male...

    Old age?

I agree with Tony's human. Hindsight is always perfect. I hope she'll be ok! Just keep up with her treatments, even if you think she is doing better. Unfortunately prey animals like rabbits tend to hide their pain and fake being well. If it's the kidneys, it could be as simple as putting her on...

    Bonding Help Please

So far we made some progress, or so I thought. The new rabbit, Charlie, basically is a saint. He shows no aggression at all, but he wants to be close to Clementine, who wants nothing to do with him. I had them side by side separated by a gate. Then I put them in the bathtub, then in the bathroom...
