What do you use on your cage floor?

Im looking for an alternative to what I'm using. Right now I'm using the ferret nation trays and a blanket over top of them, but skip is not getting use to his new litter boxes very quick and pees on the blankets a lot. And he's chewing on them; I don't want his tummy to get messed up! I was...

Thinking about a second bun :)

Thanks everyone! I think I'll go ahead and adopt then if we decide to get another. Your posts were very informative and helpful. Maybe there will be a mini Rex at the shelter too :)

Thinking about a second bun :)

I know I only just got my first one, but I'm in love with a black mini-rex at the pet store. From what I can tell he's healthy, but if I do get him I'll take him to the vet to be safe. I know I should probably adopt instead but this rex is so sweet, he's like another Skip! Such a great...

My life with Skip (or the other way around?)

So we've got an appointment date to get him neutered! March the 8th I'll take him in, he'll be kept overnight and I'll pick him up Saturday morning :) Just don't tell Skip! I like to visit the pet store a lot and every time I go in they have this black mini-rex baby boy that I've been keeping...

My life with Skip (or the other way around?)

I think you're right! Whenever I walk in the door he starts mooing/oinking/whatever you want to call it and runs up and down the length of the cage until I let him out. I'm glad he loves me :) I was hoping it wouldn't be too hard for my new bunny to get use to me, and I guess I got the best of luck!

My life with Skip (or the other way around?)

Thanks everyone! Sorry Lisa, I'm not sure why you can't see the video :( I may be able to get him neutered this weekend if the vet has any openings. He seems to be settled in enough that he's comfortable :) Man is he an attention hog! This morning I went in to give him his pellets, and had to...

My life with Skip (or the other way around?)

Thanks for the compliments (I'm sure he would say thanks as well)! I'll try to update with his crazy antics when I can :)

My life with Skip (or the other way around?)

Hi everyone! I'll introduce myself here as some people may not have seen my introduction thread :) I'm Kaitlin, from central Illinois. I recently adopted a (supposedly) 2 year old dutch buck from a local who was giving him away. I'm a 16 y.o. animal enthusiast with a passion for critters. Fury...

    What does this mean?

Some of you may know I just got my first personal rabbit, a Dutch names Skip :) Skip is unaltered. I've sat on the floor with his cage open a few times already, just to let him get use to me and the room hes staying in, and he comes out quite willingly. He starts making this low honking sound...

    Hello, I'm new! (long post)

I just picked up my bunny! He's so sweet! He's a little shy and scared right now but I think he will warm right up. Edit:Got him home now, he's in his new cage marking his territory lol. And that includes me! I was clipping his nails (I would have waited but they kept getting caught in the...

Is this the right kind of hay?

Thanks as well! The bunny in getting is actually 2 years old, so I shouldn't use alfalfa right? I'm using Timothy-based pellets too. I'll look into the hay more and find the mixture used :)

Is this the right kind of hay?

    Thank you! :)

Is this the right kind of hay?

http://www.tractorsupply.com/content/storeevents/hay-bales I've been looking at alternatives to buying from a pet store (I'm frugal haha, and sometimes wary of pet store products) and I know lots of people use tractor supply hay. Is the hay in the link above the right kind for rabbits? (It...

    Hello, I'm new! (long post)

Thanks! I'm super excited to be getting him :) Edit: Here are some pics of Skip's future home! :D As I said before it's 6 ft long, 2 ft wide, and 2 ft tall. He's got a crinkly run tunnel (which I may remove and just use for out-of-cage time since it takes up a lot of space), several...

    Hello, I'm new! (long post)

I called my vet and they charge $84 for a neuter :) And I too think he's gorgeous! My vet isn't a specialized rabbit vet but he did help us with our rabbits before, specifically when one had the snuffles.

    Hello, I'm new! (long post)

I agree, children are a lot more time consuming than a rabbit. It's all for the best for the bunny :) These are the two pictures he sent to me, one is him as a baby and the other is fairly recent. I'm unsure if I'm allowed to post photos that aren't mine but I do not take credit for the photos...

    Hello, I'm new! (long post)

Oh, I thought there was a Timothy based one too though? I'll check the pet store again later today and check which one it is they have. They had one for youngsters and one for adults. Ah, I'm at the pet store and the food is "oxbow bunny basics/t (essentials) adult rabbit food" made with...

    Hello, I'm new! (long post)

I didn't list why he was rehoming since I didn't feel it was a public matter, but it does say it in his ad so I guess it's ok. He's getting married soon and on top of that having a baby. I know a lot of people would say "what is the difference if you have another child? Are you going to get rid...

    Hello, I'm new! (long post)

Well I may be getting a rabbit sooner than I thought! I got my allowance today and bought the basics (food, hay, some toys etc) and have the rest of it ready. Today I saw an ad on craigslist for a free rabbit, and had to check it out just to see (I scan CL a lot just out of curiosity). He's a...

    Hello, I'm new! (long post)

Thank you both! @Agnesthelion - I always make it a point to research my pets before I get them haha, I'm a little ocd about my pets. I like to make sure they are getting the best I can offer. @Moochyesh - Hopefully I'll be getting the bun within a month or two :) Although it shouldn't be too...
