    Your first bunny

Fuzzy is my very first bunny, but we bought 2 other rabbits the same time as him, so I guess we have 3 first bunnies! lol! Min is from the very first litter I bred. Fuzzy is his dad-

Got my new Flop buck. :-)

Beautiful! Love his color, can't wait to see kits! So are French Lops like Mini Lops, just bigger? I have 5 mini lops that my sister and I show. I love lop breeds and I want to breed Mini, English, and maybe French lops within the next few years.

    Confused about new rabbit laws...

Thanks Julie! The article kind of dumbed it down a little more! I guess it will make more sense when my mom and dad read it.

Please Sign if you support responsable small breeders!

I signed! I'm all for supporting local and small breeders who are responsible enough to breed their rabbits true/as close to the ARBA Standard of Perfection as they possibly can! I'm 13, and I would like to become one of these responsible small breeders in a few years.

    Confused about new rabbit laws...

So if I just post a picture of my rabbit on the internet or just a description of him and say, ok, this rabbit is for sale for $35 and I'll ship him to you for $40 more, That would be considered selling him "sight-unseen"? By commercial breeder, they mean like meat, fur, laboratory rabbits right?

What breed is my friend's bunny?

If her ear flops over when she gets older, most definitely a mini lop, but I'd need to see a better profile picture of her bunched up to be able to truly tell you. If her other ear does not lop, she could possibly be a mini lop/mini rex cross.

    Confused about new rabbit laws...

So, I've been reading about the possible(?) new laws on animal sales and I'm extremely confused. does this only apply to those breeders with more than 5 breeding rabbits( 4 does and 1 buck)? Is the new limit for small breeders 1 buck and 5 breeding does and after that they need a license? A...

    Baby Mini Lop Ears

Our mini lop kits' ears didn't fully flop until they were weaned from their mother and sent to new homes, but even then their ears still airplaned while this crowns filled in more.

    new to rabbits

Either one would work, especially if they are altered. I personally prefer males because they seem more affectionate to me, but they do spray if they are unaltered.

    new to rabbits

If the rabbits are unaltered, then it is not a good idea to keep them in the same pen. Maybe just get one and then the other after you build the cages? If you have 2 unaltered males, they will fight to the death... unaltered females will pick at each other, but nothing too bad. If they...

Convincing my dad to let me breed rabbits...

hmm... yes, I do quite understand what you are talking about. I've already dealt with my own bout of deadly illness with my current rabbits. Fuzzy got pasturella last year. We probably spent anywhere between $100-$150 for his meds and the vet visit. The most expensive part was when we had to put...

Convincing my dad to let me breed rabbits...

Sarah- Breeding as many litters as I can out of the does, and replacing them with a POL from one of her last 2 litters was what I was thinking of doing too.

    Help me identify Min's color?

Our state fair classes were a lot bigger and it seemed a little bit more complicated... its a good thing I'm showing a broken and a solid, we'll be able to find out how both of the fairs class the rabbits. I'll keep you guys posted on this as it gets towards fair time. I'll make another post...

    Help me identify Min's color?

I guess not... when I show this year, I'll write everything down and talk to the 4-H show coordinator. Last year at county in my group, there were only 2 people, me and my solid blue chinchilla junior buck, and a girl my age with her New Zealand junior buck....

Kits leaving nest box too soon?

I think they'll be ok in you give them a little nest in the corner or where they can easily find it, just so they can hop in and stay warm! When we had a surprise litter, 2 days after they started jumping out, momma started to get mad at the nest box, so we shredded up paper, took a tiny bit...

    Help me identify Min's color?

Yeah, for non-4-H shows, he would be a solid junior mini lop buck, but in 4-H, he would just be a junior buck. so he is definitely a lilac chinchilla. That's good! Thanks guys!

Convincing my dad to let me breed rabbits...

At the moment, I'm almost kinda thinking about getting her a Holland. I think the judge at the state fair last year said he breeds them, so maybe if he's there this year, I'll talk to him and ask him a few questions. Its a good thing you guys bring stuff like aging buns and college, because...

Convincing my dad to let me breed rabbits...

Hmm... it sounds like Frosty is getting to the age of spaying, she is about 3 and she has only had 7 kits, 5 of which are alive and well. She's only had 2 litters. I'm considering doing therapy rabbits with my older, more docile and affectionate rabbits. As for non-therapy rabbits, I'm...
