Grace, I first sexed them at around 5 weeks. Then I sex them again to make sure I was right around weaning time.
I'll see if I can get some good pics, or check out the sexing bunny link Minda posted.
Kinda of a bittersweet day Sunday... took three of my baby bucks to a friends. She bought one, so took three for her to pick from. She's bunny sitting and taking the other two to a show next weekend to sell/show for me. She's been so awesome in helping me get some good rabbits to show/breed...
I'm new at this sexing bunnies thing, but have found it pretty easy and I'm accurate!!! :)
Bucks = small tube (like a tiny straw) w/ a hole.
Does = triangle type shape, not as high as the buck's "tube" w/ a slit.
To get those results... hold the kit in your lap on it's back. Using your thumb...
OMG, cuteness overload!! They're adorable as adults, but OMG, that baby is just SUPERCUTE!!!! I'm in love!!! My favorite kit, Monster, used to sleep on her back all the time, too. She was the only one out of six that did that.
Yes, stretching would make it easier. She has everything else going for her BUT the ear length! I was told she should make an excellent brood doe though when put w/ a buck w/ super ear length! Like 25-27" or more if I could find one. Her pedigree is full loooong ears, so not sure why she...
OMG, sooo cute!!! Wherever did you find her? I don't know of a lot of FLop breeders in Iowa. That's why I ended up buying from a breeder out of state for my Elop. ugh
Well she's in my house which is more than 72 degrees anytime of year and 75 in the summer so the A/C doesn't run constantly and just takes the humidity out of the air. If I can get 2 1/2" before she reaches 16 weeks, then I could show her! :D
It's unfortunate, but it happens. Their mother had kits already, just three, all boys... about three weeks old. Found her dead in her cage w/ her babies around her. So very sad. No clue what happened to her. The babies should be okay, as they're older.
Broken blues, my second favorite...
My friend feels the same about this doe and the litter, as well. That doe had been showing great this year, she got BOV at Nationals and then was bred. It was going to be a super litter, too. This was her first litter, so she was a young doe. A year old. I loved her, she was a nice looking...
Thanks gals! Sorry Elizabeth. My BF likes the lop ears and also the fuzzy ones, but no fuzzy lop yet! LOL Our next breed will be Cinnamons (aka cinnabuns... :D.)
I love this little girl, just wished I could show her!!
