I Don't Neuter or Spay My Pets

I had an unspayed female rabbit that I adopted back in 2007. She was two years old. She lived alone and was the calmest and sweetest rabbit ever. No issues with her whatsoever. She lived a very healthy and drama free life until she was almost 12 and developed uterine cancer. It took her...

    Rabbit hemorrhagic disease

Southern DE here. My girls were all vaccinated when I adopted them, and they got their annual booster in Feb. Indoors 24/7 but not taking chances and we plan on traveling with them.

    Re-bonding rabbits

I have two bonded sisters (two years old--my avatar pic) that I adopted in March 2023. They were seven months old, had been spayed for a little under three months and seem to do well in my home at first as a bonded pair. They came from the rescue as a bonded pair and I didn't have any issues...

    Rabbit keeps having bloat/GI issues

Peppermint tea? That sounds good! I might have to give my buns some.

    Rabbit keeps having bloat/GI issues

Thanks for the advice! I am going to cut back on pellets some and see if that helps. Thankfully, both girls are big hay eaters. I give them Small Pet Select timothy (second cut) with a little bit of orchard. I will also look into probiotics.

    Rabbit keeps having bloat/GI issues

I've had rabbits for most of my life and never had a rabbit have gas/bloat issues so much as one I have now. I adopted two sisters (in avatar) over a year ago, both spayed and healthy. They will be two in August. They are seven pounds each and a lionhead mix. They saw the vet a couple months...

Rabbit eating poop (actual poop, not cecotropes)

I had a lionhead mix that loved to eat poop. She was not spayed. She did it for the entire twelve years of her life and never had health issues. I joked that poop eating was her secret to longevity. I caught my black and white bunny (in avatar) licking her pee yesterday! Never saw that...

Today is the first morning in 8 years...

So sorry. What a beautiful baby. She was loved and you can tell. They do steal our hearts. I had two pass that I absolutely adored (and vice versa)--one was twelve and the other six years old. I know what you mean, about them being there through all the tough times and how close it makes...

    Tail problem

So sorry to hear all this, that's awful. My parents had a Golden that broke his tail and had it amputated. It was then a four inch stump.

    My Fury is gone... :(

So sorry to hear you lost your sweet bun. I loved reading her story. It's obvious you loved her very much and she had a very happy life with you.

rabbit not eating(she is dying help me)(RIP)

Oh, I am so sorry to hear she is gone. You really did all you could. I lost my second heart bunny (my avatar) in January and it killed me inside so I do understand how depressing it is. I saw her die and had to deal with it alone. Always remember that you did everything in your power to...

    Female urinating near new bunny!

I posted a few weeks ago about the two sisters I adopted (eight months old and spayed back in December) and both of them have adjusted well to my home and seem to be very happy. I decided to foster a one-year-old spayed female from the same rescue and she is housed in the same room as the...

    Organic spring mix--ok to feed?

My friend gave me this box of spring mix--seems ok for the buns as far as I can tell. Anyone else feed their buns spring mix?

    Welcome Ali and Cali!

I waited almost two months to welcome another bunny into my life after losing my bunny, Precious, but I finally adopted two sisters from the same rescue that gave me Precious a week ago. Ali (silver) and Cali (black and white) are a lionhead mix. They were born in August 2022 at the shelter...

    Not eating (RIP)

So sorry, I lost my bunny (avatar pic) a month ago too, just minutes from arriving at the vet's office. It still hurts. Again, my deepest condolences on losing your sweet baby.

    Goodbye Jojo

So sorry for your loss. It is so sad to read these. I just lost my bunny (avatar pic) last month and the loss of our dear bunnies hurts our hearts. Such a cute bunny you have though and he was well loved.

My little girl passed away suddenly

Thanks so much for the caring and thoughtful replies. We all love our bunnies so much. It just hurts deeply to know she is gone. I've had many bunnies and she was truly special.

My little girl passed away suddenly

My rescue dwarf mix and avatar, Precious, died yesterday morning. She was six years old and I would expect a rabbit I have to live longer than six. My last bunny lived to be twelve. I adopted her over five years ago. No illnesses, injuries, or anything wrong until Friday afternoon. She ate...

    Snoring Bunny

My dwarf mix (avatar pic) is almost six and has always snored. She is pretty loud! She also moves her mouth when in a deep sleep. She's a small bunny too, not overweight at all.
