    Simethicone for GI Stasis

Just putting this out there for anyone who has a similar problem: at the pet store yesterday I stumbled upon these Oxbow Papaya Support tabs. They contain both papaya and pineapple, which are both supposed to be great for breaking down hair in a rabbit’s tummy. Louie loves them, and I plan on...

    Simethicone for GI Stasis

Good to know it’s so safe! The lowest dosage I’ve heard was 0.3, so since I wasn’t sure how easily rabbits handle it I was playing it safe. Now I know for next time :)

    Simethicone for GI Stasis

Thank you all for the great information! I was wondering about the effectiveness of simethicone for hair-related blockages. Thankfully when I got up in the middle of the night to check on him, he started munching on the greens I left out for him. This morning there were poos in his litter box...

    Simethicone for GI Stasis

The goofball just flopped, so he must not be that uncomfortable? He can’t seem to sit still; he keeps getting up to groom. Thoughts?

    Simethicone for GI Stasis

My bun ate his whole dinner (small amount of pellets) as normal about 1.5-2 hours ago. Just now when I looked at him again, he was pressing his stomach into the floor. I offered him two kinds of treats, which he sniffed but wouldn’t eat. I noticed a couple poos connected with hair in his litter...

Mini lop diet. and laying on his side normal?

Yeah I would wait on the greens until he’s older. There are lots of great guides on what to feed rabbits at different ages. I think I used this one when my bun was younger: Rabbit Food | House Rabbit Society And it sounds like your bunny flopped! They do that when they are very content. At that...

Bunny Photos-- Share Cute Bunny Photos

Every few months I’ll take Louie to school with me (I teach preschool), and he does super well with all the kiddos. It’s a great opportunity for them to learn to be respectful of animals and their needs, like how bunnies prefer to see your hand coming when you pet them. They draw pictures of him...

Louie is getting extra love now that I’m home all day with nothing to do!

    G.I STASIS??!!

I agree, give baby gas drops if you have them (simethicone, I believe) and tummy massages, and if you have any critical care I would try to give a bit of that also. If you don’t have critical care, I’ve heard mixing some pellets with warm water to make them liquidy, then offering in a bowl or...

    Should I neuter a well-behaved bunny?

My mini lop Louie is almost two years old. I had planned to get him neutered when he began to show aggressive behavior at puberty, but he never did. He never charges or bites, and I’ve never seen him spray. He’s curious and calm, really just a great bun. I want to eventually get a second bunny...

Something wrong with my rabbit. Pls help ! Urgent need !

I’m glad your bun is okay! I had the same experience a few months ago with my bunny’s behavior, which is textbook GI stasis (not eating or pooping, lethargic, hunched, pressing stomach to the ground). When this happens to bunnies, they generally need a pain reliever, something to get the gut...

    Sneezing Bunny

He’s doing great! I’m guessing it was just being in a new environment that he was reacting to. I haven’t had any sneezing issues with him since!

    Is this normal?

I just gave my mini lop his pellets, and he went to scarf them down like he usually does. After about 30 seconds, he jumped into his litter box and just jumped from side to side over and over, and then he made this loud gagging sound. He made the same sound again a few seconds later and just a...

    GI Stasis Causes

Six days ago I noticed my one-year-old mini lop wasn’t eating or pooping and was sitting hunched over, which is unusual because he loves to sprawl out. After about ten hours of this I syringe fed him Critical Care and took him to the emergency exotic vet, who said it was likely an early case of...

Do I have to neuter my bun?

I have read many online pages about why to neuter rabbits, and I fully planned on getting Louie fixed. However, I’ve read so many horror stories about bunnies that reacted to the anesthesia that I’m scared to take him in. He’s nine months old now, and he’s never once bit me, growled, lunged, or...

    Our sweet Bella passed away!

I am so sorry for your loss! You gave her a wonderful life, and you were doing the right thing. Female bunnies that aren’t spayed have an extremely high chance of developing cancer (like upwards of 70%), so deciding not to spay them is a huge risk. Prayers to your family ❤️

    7 day old bunny

I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure that’s an umbilical cord like you said. Our new kittens used to have that too. It falls off after a bit.

Bunny Walks - Helping or Hurting?

My 3-month-old mini lop Louie loves going on walks. He adjusted to his harness and leash almost immediately, and every time I take him out he binkies constantly. We have several acres behind my house he loves to explore, and it’s way more exercise than he could ever get in my tiny room...

    What type of lop?

I’m not an expert, but I believe the main difference between Holland and mini lops is size. I think full grown Hollands are around 3-4 pounds, while mini lops can get closer to 7 pounds. It’s pretty hard to tell the difference just by looking at them, so I would go by weight.

Me + bunny in a tiny space

I am in a very small space with my bunny. I’m still organizing the space, but I’m planning on putting a small shelving unit next to his cage for his items. Bunnies are supposed to be most active at dusk and dawn, but so far he’s also been getting up and running around his cage at least once at...
