This morning a woman was walking past my house and looked at my rabbits but she didn't see me out there too. She was saying to the person with her 'look at all them poor rabbits there are far too many of them' I then said 'excuse me these rabbits are well taken care how how dare you say that' she replied with ' you are obviously a very silly person, rabbits should never be kept together otherwise they will fight and you have 3 rabbits all the in the same cage that is just plain stupid' I just said 'wow, educate yourself and you'd know more, rabbits should be kept in pairs or groups' she then walked of shaking her head saying 'poor poor rabbits'.
Then about 15 minutes ago I had the SPCA call at mine saying they had a complaint about how my rabbits were kept and that they were skinny and lived in a dirty environment!!
I said, you are very very welcome to come and view my rabbits they are very well taken care of and i told them i volunteered at the SPCA. I knew it was the woman from before who complained. So they went out and looked and they were amazed by the living arrangements of my rabbits and said it was the best outdoor housing they had seen and then asked if they could take pictures to put on their website to show good outdoor housing for rabbits!

God, some people do p*ss me off!!

Ugh. One time a guy told me that it was inhumane to use a head collar on my dog because apparently "that poor dog can't bark or move its mouth". I at first politely explained to him that it is to prevent her pulling and choking herself. He then started yelling and threatening me! All the while his two dogs were wearing shock collars! People really need to educate themselves before they harass others, especially concerning the care of animals.

wow, gotta love uneducated morons who think the whole world needs to buy into their misguided opinions. I hope she finds out what the SPCA's opinion of your rabbit's living arrangements is, lol - might shut her up for a bit!

that's really cool that they want to display pictures of your outdoor housing on their site :D

Unfortunately, I hear about this kind of stuff happening all the time. :( She just wasted your time & the investigators' time by filing a false complaint.

PS Could you post pics of your set-up? I'd love to see it. :)

Yeah you were definitely A LOT nicer than I would have been too. I don't take kindly to people saying anything about the way I keep my child or my animals. My mom and I just got into a fight about my dog. She doesn't live with me and came to watch my son so my husband and I could go to dinner. She said my dog was too thin. Which is true, but he doesn't gain weight. I've taken him to the vet, he's just a lean thin dog. He eats the best food he could possibly eat, but he stays thin. He has great muscle tone and my vet said he looks great for a dog that is 7. She yelled at me, in my own house and told me I didn't feed him enough. As I put 3 cups of food into his bowl for the second time that day. She's a jerk.

It is annoying isn't it! I'll take a picture tomorrow and put it on here as I only have old pics on my phone :) yeah it's happened with my dog before, when my dog Dexter was a puppy I was making him sit on the path before we crossed the road and someone came up to me and said I was making him frustrated and I wasn't allowing him to be puppy! It's paid off now though!
I did feel like giving her mouthful lol!

And that's about the time you say 'mind your own business lady!'. That's like the most ridiculous logic I've ever heard. It's the equivalant of saying it's not good to teach your kids to behave or listen to you as it frustrates them and doesn't allow them to be kids.

People are sooooo stupid about rabbits. Really! :goodjob

Our dog has stranger issues and will bite them if we don't keep her away. We were standing outside a hotel once, trying to get her acclimated to a stranger(to her, we knew him) and a hotel worker came outside and said "what a cute dog, is she friendly?" Well no, she's barking and showing signs of aggressive anxiety, what do you think? I told her that she can and will bite, and the hotel worker just tsked and reached down to pet her. She of course got bitten(not badly), despite my best efforts pulling her in on the leash. The lady walked away saying "Of course she's going to bite if you hold her on the leash like that."

Oh my goodness I was livid, stupid people don't belong around animals.

so... you're a bad dog owner for teaching him not to get hit by cars? *facepalm*

I had a crazy jack-russel mix at one point... whenever I took her on walks, I'd pause before stepping off a curb to teach her to "look both ways". sometimes she escaped from the back yard and took off running like crazy with us frantically chasing her (she thought it was a game... we quickly learned that the only way to catch her was to call her name and then run *away* from her)... but damned if she didn't stop to look in both directions for cars before darting across the street even when she was off leash/on the lam!

God, I would have not had the willpower to stop myself to punch her in the face, lol. I am constantly reminded of how stupid and audacious people can be. How dare you come into MY front yard and lecture me about MY animals? Is what I would have said. Educate yourself, you incompetent moron. I would say I can't believe how many idiots there are, but I certainly do believe it.
