Fraggles almost suffocated on her own hair tonight!!!

Only Fraggles! Only FRAGGLES could have this happen...

OMG!!!!!!!!! Fraggles was not acting right when I was putting her to bed. She was breathing hard and her face looked puffy. She could also not close her mouth. I looked in her mouth and noticed a tuft of hair in between her teeth. I pulled it and noticed more. I started pulling hair out of her mouth and noticed it was coming out of her throat! I had my hubby hold her mouth while I removed hair from deep in her throat....I was shocked at the amount I pulled out. See for yourself....I am still horrified by this...Seeing huge wads coming up out of her throat was awful. I am so glad I have a sharp eye for my buns. What would have happened if I had not looked in her mouth...Poor (stupid) Fraggles.... :(

Ok, that handful of fur didn't all come out of her mouth did it? Wow, good thing you saw there was something wrong with her! I hope she's going to be ok and didn't swallow too much of it.
 
I'm not usually squeamish(maggots are the only things that get me) but I nearly started retching. My excuse is I spent most of my afternoon yesterday vomiting, so my stomach's already conditioned for weakness.

All. That. Hair! In her throat. Eeek!
 
I can't believe it! I can't believe she didn't choke and die. I mean I'm glad she didn't, but still, that's incredible! Wow Fraggles! That girl is lucky to be alive. I can't imagine what she thought she was doing :?
 
wow, I would've been SO scared for her! I'm really glad you caught it in time and she's ok, it must've been terrifying for her. give her some extra huggles for me!

Good catch on your part. I bet she would no doubt have suffocated.

Is she molting? And shedding right now? Does that amount come off when you groom her?

I just am glad everything is okay!!!! She had to have felt SO much better after too!
 
It looks like dewlap and tummy fur. So maybe she was trying to make a nest and went a little nuts? Foo used to pull her dewlap, tummy and butt fur out and leave big huge piles like that around.
 
That's an incredible amount of fur, I thought it was another bunny in your hands. She's such a lucky girl to have such an observant mummy. Glad that it was just a scare, hope you've told her she's not to scare you like that again.
 
This happened when we first got Bailey, but she was un-spayed. I noticed tiny tufts of fur sticking out of her mouth, and when I finally caught her (because I had to chase her round a bit) I started pulling loads of of fur from the inside of her mouth. I couldn't believe it all fit in there!
 
It was horrible and she hates being held so that did not help. But oddly enough while I was pulling the hair from her mouth she relaxed and let me finish the job without much fuss. I think she felt better as it was coming out of her throat.
