So whenever I go to pet Conan he sometimes assumes a sphinx position, even if he was already in a different position. It looks like he's taking a pose like the ones I see show rabbits take. I'm pretty sure he's enjoying the rub because he bows his head into it or pushes into it for a more precise scratch, I just wonder if posing is a standard thing when rabbits get petted.

I think he's trying to tell you he's dominant. He would do the same thing to another rabbit to groom him. My bun does it all the time to get me to pet her.
He's probably just rally happy when you're petting him like that!
