What do you guys do with your buns when you travel?

How ironic!
We leave tomorrow. Our neighbor girl is stopping by twice a day. She is 13 years old, baby-sits are son, we are friends with her family, she's a great young lady. Agnes gets to stay home this way rather than being boarded or taken somewhere.

We've taken them with us. Granted, we don't really "travel" for "vacation," so it's not quite the same as what you're probably talking about! The only place we go out of town is to my husband's parent's house (about 4 hours from us). We have a NIC set up down there (smaller than what we have for them at home, but adequate). We drive, so they just have to endure the to and from car trips.

We're saving up for a BIG vacation/trip to the UK in two years. We've been saving for 3 years so far. For the two week trip we're planning, I'm hoping we can leave the bunnies with my parents (who live near us). I only know of one rabbit boarding place around here and it would be pretty expensive for a two week stay.

I've done several things with my buns. I've boarded them at the animal hospital where I worked, left him with a family member with very detailed instructions and left him at home and had someone come in and check on him.

I haven't traveled since getting my bunnies and have no plans to travel in the future. if that changes, though...

if I was driving and would be going somewhere bunny-friendly, I'd probably take them with me. their condo would stay at home and I'd take a couple playpens and their tarp to set up a living area for them where they'd be safe and not underfoot.

if I was flying or driving to somewhere non-rabbit friendly or if I was only going to be gone for a couple days, I would leave them at home. I'm good friends with my next door neighbors - the guy's mom is retired and living with him and she ADORES the bunnies (when we go outside, I text her and she rushes over to hang out with them). I would trust her to come in and care for the bunnies and I know money's a little tight for them so she'd appreciate some extra cash from pet sitting (even though I'm sure it would take some convincing to get her to accept it since I've pet sat for free for them before :p).

I've been fortunate enough to have a few different friends who were willing and able to move in and house and bunny sit. One of my paralegals usually will sit for short-term breaks. When I was in Scotland for three weeks this summer one of my former Scouts, now a college student, was home on summer break and welcomed a chance to get out of his folks house and stay in mine with Natasha.

I get some one to come over a couple of times a day. We have lots of neighbors that are willing to do it. We have too many animals for us to board them. (plus when we are gone we are gone for almost 2 weeks at a time). Growing up I made all of my $$ by petsitting for neighbors.

We just got back from Charleston and I left our bun here. We were gone from Friday to tonight(Sunday)
If we're gone for more than 2 nights then I get someone to check on her, but if its just a weekend like this time then she just stays home.
We left our cats out and our chickens cooped up. My in-laws came and checked the house to make sure no one kicked the door in and none of the animals were dead outside.
Other than that, the bun was fine. Just really happy to see me!
