Hi I just took my buns temp and it is 103.9 should I be concerned? She is eating, pooping and drinking. She does have gurgling sounds coming from her belly. She is almost 11 weeks and just got off antibiotics and meds to stimulate her gut. She is a mini lop. Thanks so much!

Make sure she's drinking a lot of fluids. Why was she on antibiotics and what kind? When did she go off them? Any sign of infection anywhere?

sas :?

she finished antibiotics on the 14th and the other this past monday. She had Ilius (sp) the beginning of it.

Ah, well probably not a huge concern. She's young and female and I assume unspayed still, so it will be a bit higher than an average bun. (They do have a wide range).

Why was she on Flagyl? Gut issues?

I'll have to look at her history.

yes she had gas and the vet actually wanted her to stay there but I read online that they do better at home and after a few days she was doing wonderful. pooping great etc she is still eating great and poop is about medium sized not what she was doing. she eats ALOT and I just am unsure about the belly being bloated or just full? We took her off the pellets for a bit because it seems everytime she eats them she gets gas. So I started her back on them yesterday just a small handful and now she has gas again? The vet recommended the oxbow essentials.

A small handful might be too many pellets. See what a tablespoon a day, or even less, will do. And she could be eating them too fast, so give them just a few at a time.

Not a bad idea to get her eating canned pumpkin to keep her gut moving, I far prefer it over the gut motility drugs (which they can get dependent on among other issues).

What was she eating before you got her? They need gradual change.

Grass, hay and bits of bunny safe weeds and produce is a healthier diet than pellets if she tolerates them.

Thank You! :big wink: around 1am she seem to be going down hill fast (her belly was huge) so I brought her to an emergency vet and they took x-ray, gave her sub-Q fluids and a dose of reglan (sp) to get her gut moving. She had a bit of bloat/gas and did not poop for 5 hours and did not want to eat. We got home at 5am and she finally pooped and is eating a little bit now. The vet said no pellets now whatsoever of any knid since this is the 3rd time she has been to vet for this and only after she eats pellets. I started giving her the same pellets the store was giving her but then we noticed how bloated she was after she ate them. Took them out of her diet for a bit then tried to introduce them again and same thing. We did this 3 times and well 3 visits later...so now critical care every 4 hours, Timothy hay only and water. She cannot even have the orchard grass I just got her :( I am wondering why this lil girls tummy is so fickle? She loves to eat so it is a shame to have her on such a restricted diet. Maybe in a month or so I can introduce other stuff? Will the canned pumpkin make her belly ache? The vet said something about natural sugars in alot of fruits etc (is pumpkin a fruit or veggie?:?) Thank you!
